Hi, I was wondering how I would go about restoring the artwork on a playfield, I have a 1978 bally Playboy machine and the playfield is terrible, I have 2 extra playfields but they are not much better. How can I restore the artwork and mylar coat the new artwork, or is there anyone who does that and if so how much would it cost? thanks

I would check on Rec.Games.Pinball and asked there. From what I have read in the past prices vary depending on how much of a restoration your looking to have done and obviously how bad the playfield is to begin with. I also here most of these people have an extensive backlog so you could be waiting months to over a year.

Someone has made an overlay in the past for that machine. I saw one for sale a month or so ago with a parts machine on CL.

If you haven't already looked at the pinrepair site then go check it out. Lots of stuff on restoring pins, including the playfields.

CPR is making them .....

The CPR orders for Playboy are closed.

Don't bother with the overlays, they are poorly done.

There are a couple of folks who do restorations, but it gets pretty expensive and takes some time. Doing it yourself is an option, but matching colors is tough on older playfields.

The Playboy playfields are notoriously beat up, tough to find replacements for older pins.

Thanks guys, I will keep my eye out for one. If anyone happens to have an extra please shoot me a pm with the price. and thanks for the links

I have a friend with a bucket of Playboy parts. There is a decal you can get for like $40 for the middle of the playfield bonus area. It is usually the worst area.

also mylar is an option....however automotive clearcoat will make it almost indestructable mylar is a pain to remove as it usually will also remove paint .....just my 2 cents
