What is a good cleaner that will remove swirly ball marks off of a wood playfield? I have tried magic eraser, wax, rubbing alcohol to no avail, anybody have any suggestions? I,m wondering if these ball swirly marks are permanent. I put some serious elbow grease into it with little results.

Careful on the way more - ME can and will remove art work (even on clear coated PF). That stuff is a light gritted sandpaper. Go slow and controlled.

What game are you trying to remove the marks from?

Memory lane
Gulf Stream

These were my Dads pins who never maintained them, they were passed on to me. (This is how I got started in the hobby.) I am in the process of doing my best to restore ML it has the worst ball cracks.

What's a ball crack?
Show a couple of pics. Each situation is different. From touch up to cleaning and waxing...

Treasure Cove kit is really good. The Number 3 they have is great for taking out swirl marks.

Also great for marks on plastics.

you have to be careful though....that 3 will take the paint off, if u push too hard

if it's ball swirls, use magic eraser. check out this site: http://arcadearchive.com/pinball/magic/

if it's planking i still think magic eraser is the way to go, but i've seen less discussion of that. check out: http://warpzonearcade.com/?p=273 for an example of fixing planking *and* ball swirls with magic eraser, rag+alcohol, and novus 2.

i've been looking into this quite a bit lately because i just bought a Magic (1979 Stern) which i'm going to have to do this to. it's actually more planking than swirls for me - which is common here in new mexico because of the dry climate (and folks that never clean and wax the machines).
