I got to play a game of "Whirlwind" today at lunchtime, but the machine either had the sound turned down or it was out. Looks like a fun game that would probably be a blast with sound!

That one does have some great sound as I recall. Played it recently.

I'd bet the sound was turned down. Does the EATPM have the sound turned up?

One of the problems with the Cyclone I am working on was "no sound". I found the volume turned all of the way down. In fact, every problem I have found so far with this machine has been very simple and just caused by poor maintenance. Hopefully her other machines are as easy...

I think it does, but the displays are out. I didn't play it today (only had a few min)

I am not familiar with the attract sounds of either Whirlwind or EATPM but the Cyclone was turned down because it can get annoying due to the heckling of it's attract mode.

The sad part is without the sound you really have a tough time following what's going on with the game (at least with the newer SS games IMO). I was on my way to getting the multiball function, but without the sound it was kind of lame.

I looked to see if the coin door had a lock or not so maybe I could turn the sound up, but of course it was locked..

Bummer, that's a good game when the sound is working. A few weeks ago I got to play one that had just been completely restored with all new plastics, ramps, decals, and a NOS playfield. It played like a dream and it was really fun. We had it in our tournament game rotation and I got past the first two rounds on that machine.

Whirlwind is a kick to play. It will stay in my collection permanently ;)
Sounds like the sound was just turned down on that one if everything else worked properly.

Good eyes 2600, did not notice when looked at the first time. What do you expect though, the pin is on route.

True, but for this game it was just one of those unique things that stood out. It was a topper that actually did something.

Yeah, the blowing fan was pretty cool.....The Storm Is Coming, Return to Your Homes.....Well lookee here. Classic on my wish list. Gotta love those late 80's early 90's Lawlor games.
