Went to the local arcade and played the following:

1) World Poker Tour

Not impressed. A zillion drop targets, cheesy upper 'playfield' if you can call it that, not nearly enough use of the jet bumpers and the womans voice gets annoying rather quickly. If you dont know how to play cards this game sucks.

2) No Fear

I've played it before but that particular game sucked me in with the LED's that were installed.
Too many ramps and not enough targets. An OK game.

3) Independence Day

I liked this one, Vibrant colors, neat show on the DMD and a good connection to the movie (which I loved) Difficult game, but I could play the hell out of it and probably not get bored

4) Shrek.

My favorite out of all of them. Great colors, lights, art and the mini-playfiels was pretty neat.
The music and Eddie Murphy in my ears....GOD AWFUL.

The actual game is perfect for a Pin enthusiast but the music and sound is tailored for children.

That is all :D

It's the same layout as Family Guy. Different art and sound package, but exact same rules a layout. Just saying.

Personally, I thought Shrek was a lot more well done. Voice acting was very close to the characters where the voice imitations in FG I think personally are *horrid*. And the green trim? HELL YES.

Ive never played Family Guy....I havent played 99% of all pins..lol

I can tolerate my Johnny Mnemonic because there is a good balance between voices and music.
Shrek is just too much Eddie Murphy!

Where the hell did you find an arcade with 4 pins that worked??!!

Cool that you got to try stuff you have not played yet.

I like Family Guy (the game but not the theme) so I would probably like Shrek :)

These "I found a few pins in the wild I have never played" threads are my favorites. Glad you had fun and got to play some new (to you, of course) games.

I just wish I was doing that back in the 90's!

Actually the pins are owned by different people who are part of the local pinball league, and they maintain them. They are all in stunning condition, clean...I mean CLEAN and work perfectly.
Turns out they have a tournament 3 times a month and need players.
I have to sign up.

You guys should take a trip up here to the Northwest and Ill show you around. From my house I can think of 3 arcades...one with 5 working pins, one with 3 and one with 24.

Never a dull pinball moment! Plus, portlandpinballmap.com is probably the sweetest thing and the app rules for finding pins, which determines what bar I want to go to lol

There out there, mostly mini- golf places. Phoenix, Az. has 2 spots. Castle and Coasters has 30+ 100% working pins, mostly A titles like AF,TZ,AFM,CV, to name a few. Sunsplash another mini-golf has 15 pins but there not kept up well as the other place. The guy that runs Castle and Coasters is a pinhead and has those machines finely tuned. They have tournaments once a month there too. Cool place!!

Funny, this is currently my favorite game in my collection. It is an amazing game--if you spend some time with it and learn the rules, you'll realize it's an amazingly complex strategic game. You don't need to know how tom "play cards" to enjoy it, but the variety of intertwined modes, etc. make it killer. And what you do on the mini-pf is important for several reasons.

Also, disabling the ramp posts for the flop and turn is important, and removing the top left orbit gate helps a lot to make this game really flow. This is a Steve Ritchie/Keith Johnson collaboration, and it shows once you get into it. One of the best pure shooting/complex-strategy pins of all time.

You do realize that the voices in FGY aren't being imitated correct? Their real quotes from the show, and some newer/custom ones done by the people who do the voices on the show.

You must live in opposite-land.

All the custom voices in Shrek are sound-alikes...I'm not sure if there are any pulls from the films...but there are no Fiona voices at all, which leads me to believe there aren't any pulls.

All the custom voices in Family Guy are Seth MacFarlane...he recorded about 8 pages worth of dialog specifically for the game. All other voices are audio pulls directly from the episodes. Every voice in Family Guy is authentic.
