Heading to Montana to pick up some games this weekend and just wondering if the playchoice with two monitors is worth bringing back

That is a great cabinet. Yes it is worth picking up. Especially if you like nes games.

meh
pc10= nes in an arcade cab but with a gay timer and more expensive to buy games(might as well just put your nes in an upright)
vs system = kick ass (games are diffrent than their nes counteparts)

I'm in 100% agreement here. Never saw the point in the PC10.

I base my opinion off personal experience. I owned one. Owned meaning no longer have. NES games on an arcade is lame. VS machines are much cooler. If the PC10 dual monitor cab is cheap, I would personally buy the cabinet and make it a punch out or super punch out.

In fact you might as well build one of these

Do you read the Make blog or something? They just posted a link that Inscrutable today. :)

I agree with those that say it's a NES in a arcade cabinet. Does not make sense to own one of these. I always hated these in the arcade- it didn't matter how good you were at the game- it was on a stupid timer! How lame.....

If it is in good shape and the price is right, deconvert it to a Punch-Out. I never saw the appeal of a NES on a timer, even as a kid when these things were new. The first one I ever saw was in a mall store in the late '80s; one of the bartop ones. I looked at it and thought, "Those are just NES games. Why would I put a quarter in that?"

Let's see; Punch-Out was a very innovative game that was ahead of its time; complete with powerful custom arcade hardware. It was a true arcade classic, maybe the last true arcade classic.

PlayChoice is of course a NES, which contains no arcade classics; in fact, it doesn't even contain arcade games at all. The PlayChoice "artwork" is generic and ugly, and the top monitor is essentially wasted (it is used but not for gameplay purposes).

All I see when I look at a dual monitor PlayChoice is a bastardized Punch-Out.

Thanks for the input guys, the guy wants $40 working.I figure the parts might be worth picking up.I'm picking up a Pac-man,burgertime and maybe a tmnt pin.

$40 might as well be free. Two working Sanyos, a working PC-10 boardset and at least one game card for it; that could easily be $350 worth of stuff alone.

I shouldn't even start in on this argument because it always ends up the same... oh well. I have a PC-10 dual monitor and I love it. It is not my favorite cab (my VS. Dualsystem is) and yes, I do have a NES connected to a tv about 20 feet from the PC-10, but I love the PC-10 none-the-less. I am of a younger generation than many on this forum (I'm 28) so that does probably make a difference because many of the classic arcade games were long gone by the time I started becoming a regular in our local Alladin's Castle. But I can say that whenever I have friends over (most are around my age) the PC-10 gets the most love out of the 6 cabs, and even the 6 console systems, I have in my gameroom. I have thought many times of trading/selling my PC-10 to make room for another "real" arcade game but everytime I bring up the idea my wife and kids definitely make it known that I shouldn't. Yes they play the other games in the gameroom too but the PC-10 always gets the most activity.

That said, if I had the necessary parts to convert it to a Punch Out, I would do so as I love this game. And at $40 for this working cab, you can't go wrong. Let me know what game PCBs come with it if you end up wanting to sell them. :)

I have to agree with ben on this one. I think age is a big part of the draw of the pc10. I'm 28 as well and my playchoice get's the most play around here. I grew up playing nes and It totally brings back memories.
