I'm trying to isolate an issue and I don't exactly know what monitor I have. On the back of the back door, it states that there are 4 interchangeable monitors available.

Any idea how to tell which one is which?

I've looked all the monitor itself and can't find a number to resemble of the types or EZ models.

you can put any monitor in a playchoice.

but if you use any monitor other than a sanyo, you will have to either use an inverter board or modify the monitor to invert the colors.
also you will need a sound amp to boost the sound coming from the PCB.

a sanyo will do all that for you without adding any additional parts to the cab.

update your general location and maybe someone local will have one for sale.

Sharp xm2001n, Sanyo 20ez and similar models, or a wells Gardner. Take a few pics of the chassis and we can tell you.

Pics...

Here are three pics from the back. Hopefully someone can identify so I can start to isolate the problem.

Thanks in advance.

I'm trying to figure out it why the display is only half of what it should be. The top and bottom are both black - middle area shows the game, help screen and looks fine.

Games play fine.

I believe it's in service mode (SW301 flipped down), right now when it's playable. Flipped it and now the display shows nothing (black screen). Can hear the sound for the game and the lower monitor had a thin colored line right through the middle.

flip the switch back in to normal position.

it will need a cap kit at the very least.
a pic that is shrunk with the adjustment pot at max is in need of a cap kit and a re-flow of the solder joints.

so in Service mode what should I see on the monitor?

It looks like next to the switch it says service mode and has an arrow. When it's flipped that way, the monitor shows a picture, just is smashed.

When flipped the other way, I assume it's "normal" position, I get nothing but a black monitor.

This is on both top and bottom monitors. If I change the vertical range POT, the picture will get larger (stretch) but just within the middle area of the screen, making game play hard b/c then you can't see the top half of the screen.

Cap Kit to start?

which of these should I buy?

Sanyo
20EZ 13"/19" - Standard Industry Kit [20-Z2AW] $5.00
20EZ 13"/19" - Plus Kit with 9 more chassis caps $7.00
20EZ 13"/19" - Deluxe Kit [Plus & Audio Bd Kit] $12.00

option # 3.

do them all wile you have it out.

you probably don't have to do the transistors in the audio kit but replace all the caps on it. and save the transistors as spars in case you need them. as they also can be used for your vertical transistors on the chassis.

Can someone tell by this pic if this is a 20EZ?
