Last night, the monitor in my Playchoice 10 got bright, vertical lines appered across, fine lines vertical, then gradually brighter and brighter.
When I noticed it, immediately powered it down.

Flyback issue?

I may be in the market for a new chassis for the ol sanyo.

Any advice? Suggestions?

I'm sadly not good at monitor repair.

jailbars and other strange things are all the byproduct of failing caps. the good news is, capping these monitors isn't any major chore. the bad news is just getting them apart lol.

if you're freaked out about attempting to fix I say look for someone local to you to help out.

Thanks. Cause its a burn free monitor.
Trouble is finding someone local to help me.

I've been looking for monitor help for a while now.
If someone out there cares to lend a hand, please feel free to pm/contact me!

My zipcode in the Pittsburgh area is, 15210.

Thanks for the advice!

bring it down here and we can look at it after the holidays.

or trade it in on one i have ready to go tube and all.

Peace

WoW! Tempting!
But travelling is not a option for me. Well, not for a while anyways.

I would have to box up my monitor, and ship it to you.
Or maybe just the chassis. But even shipping chassis is a very delicate situation.

But I would definitly ship you my chassis for service, or even a trade in for a rehauled one.
I'm thinking I'm gonna need a flyback as well.

I would prefer someone local to help me, but like I said. Monitor help, convergence etc. is hard to come by.

When you say 'jailbars' Is the screen real bright and you have thin lines? If so, those aren't jailbars, you just need to adjust the brightness on the fly back. Although it does sound like the monitor needs some attention.

I have a Plachoice in a Single monitor VS cabinet and this recommendation (after the cap kit) solved my problem with the thin white horizontal lines!

THANKS!

if you're comfortable removing the monitor board and shipping it off I could certainly take care of it for you. Repair, reconditioning and everything running the way it should.
