Looking for some help from the Playchoice owners.......

Picked up a Playchoice Dual Monitor Motherboard recently and when it is inserted into my machine, the only thing that I get is "8V OK" on the top screen. When I insert my other motherboards, the machine works perfectly. Any insight as to what is going on with this motherboard? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

From the sounds of it you might be in "Self-Test." Try these and see if it helps...

-Check to see if H on SW1 (dip switches) is in the "On" position. If so, turn it off.

-Turn off the game. Hold the Service Switch in and turn on the game. You will probably need a second person to help with this one unless you have the outlet on remote control.

-While the game is on, hold the Service Switch button in and press Enter at the same time.

To further explain this for future searching purposes...

The tes mode allows you to check the RAM and ROM on the motherboard. It is accessed through the CPU so each board would have it's own individual test mode. 8V OK would mean that the RA in location 8 V (on the motherboard) checks out okay. Also in this mode an op can look to see which games are gettng the most play so as to make the best decisions as to which games to rotate out when new titles became available.

playchoice board problems

Traced this problem to the 8T ROM chip. Replaced with working chip and board is up and running! Thanks to everyone that offered their advice on this one. You guys are great!
