Mario Bros for playchoice just sold on EBay for $238, am I missing something?? When did this game become a $100+ game??

That's ridiculous. Some one could have bought the original arcade version instead of that NES version on PC10!

Really? Weird...

Must have been the seller on his other name...lol

The Playchoice version sucks too. I almost bought a MB cart for $80 a while ago but couldn't come up with the funds. I had some eproms burned to swap on another cart so I could play it and I was really dissapointed. - Barry

I saw that too. Totally shocking.

That's a $50-$80 title AT BEST!

Some one clearly got caught up in a bidding war...or schill bidding...whichever.

I am shocked! The last time I saw it on ebay, about 4 months ago, it went for ~$65

I guess this is one of those titles that doesn't surface often, so the price sky rockets when someone is dying to own it. I was willing to pay up to $100 for Mario Bros when I was looking for it - Definitely Not 238.49! Sure glad I got my hands on a Mario Bros before this auction surfaced..

i have only had a playchoice 10 for about 3 months. mine had mario bros. in it already. since i started looking for games, i have not seen 1 mario bros. for sale. i have aquired some fairly rare titles such as rc pro am, balloon fight, castlevania, and i just won a marios open golf on ebay, but in 3 months not 1 mario bros. perhaps it is rare?

Not really,
I've owned 4 of them. They pop up every once in while, just like most semi rare titles.

I've also seen Mario bros. for sale recently, so I thought for sure my $65 bid would be good money, but I guess not. It just seemed a little crazy, especially for a title that goes for $60-70. If anyone has one for around that, I'd be interested. I just hope everyone with one doesn't try to rape on the price. Sheesh

As blasphemous as this may sound, I can't stand arcade Mario Bros. because of the really shitty lag animations between running in different directions and jumping. I don't expect it to be instant, but the lag comes off as way overboard. The controls as well seem to lag a bit even going into the slide animations and jumping. It wasn't just one unit, it feels like every MB machine I play. It's disheartening, because I love the overall idea...and play the GBA remakes to death.

I could totally see going with the PC10 version if it is a way more responsive version of the game.

Flame suit on.

I bid $66.00, then $75.00. I have seen them going for $65ish recently, thought I would grab it up, but yeah I about shat when I saw it go for that.

Could it be that you just suck at the game? :D

Actually, I'm trying to understanding what lag you are referring to, because I've never experienced it. (And I'm a 1,000,000+ player).

I you are talking about Mario having to slow down before he stops and then accelerate in the opposite direction until he reaches full speed, then that is the way the game is programmed. (Just like in real life). :D

Only in games like Pac-man can you be going at full speed instantly in one direction and them full speed in the other direction without a progression/pause.

It is partially the programmed animation duration. I am pretty sure the other versions I am playing are a tad tweaked.

However, I do feel like there is lag in the control outside of the change of direction/speed animations. Hardy har I suck, but I am use to feeling for input lag in other games and arcade Mario, for sosome reason always feels off. Hitting the button to jump and getting the initial jump animation feels lagged. Hitting the opposite direction on the stick feels like it takes a half second to register and go into the programmed slide delay.

It feels like input lag, yet with that hardware I only feel it on Mario bros. #shrug# could be just me.

I can't imagine that the original SMB was all that popular back in the day in the PC10, considering it was the pack in title for the NES that every single person owned more or less, so I could definitely see how it might be a bit harder to find.
