Hey everyone! I was having a discussion with my wife the other day about a game. It turns out that she remembers going to Bennigan's when she was a kid (mid 80's) and playing a Playchoice cocktail cabinet, specifically vs. Tennis. I responded with a resounding "no you didn't, because it doesn't exist."

I've seen Red Tops, bar tops and of course just standard upright cabinets in two and four monitor configs. She is absolutely certain that it wasn't one of those.

I wouldn't think that a Bennigan's in the 80's would have bought or leased a custom Playchoice cocktail, but that must be what it was, right? Has anyone seen one? Can anyone shed some light on the subject? Maybe it was some super-rare machine and I'm wrong.

Officially the "red tent" is a cocktail. I doubt most people would call it that without really knowing.

In the movie "The Wizard" there is a scene where they play Ninja Gaiden on a table at a diner.

Also, Vs. Tennis is not a Playchoice game, it's a Vs. game.

By 'Red tops' do you mean a Red Tent? Cuz that's the only legit way to play Vs. Tennis at a sitdown machine that I know of.

It was probably a conversion. It would take a new power supply with the wiring, but it could have been a cocktail Popeye.

Mindl3ss, like I said, she definitely knows what a red tent is and that wasn't it. We've since played a Red Tent vs. Tennis at Funspot. And also, I know the difference between a vs. game a playchoice. She says she kind of remembers more than one game on it, but originally thought it was dedicated. I just can't believe they would have a dedicated Tennis game at a bar.

And I am thinking it was probably a conversion, but it seems like a very weird one.

Finally, how the hell do you play vs. Tennis with only one screen. I mean it's possible, but the second player would be at a distinct disadvantage, hence the Red Tent and my confusio as to why anyone would make a conversion of it.
