Hey everyone,
Picked up a long coveted PC-10 this last week.

Machine turns on and seems to operate ok, except the bottom screen is 'smeared'.
Like it does not sync correctly or something. But- here's the thing-
If I disconnect the video signal molex and reconnect it while the machine is on and a game is selected, the monitor comes up just fine and it is playable~ but as soon as the machine switches to another game, or the machine is switched off and on again it goes back to a garbled mess. If you disconnect and reconnect the molex again (while on) the screen is fine. So when you power it on and when in attract mode it switches to another game on the board, the lower screen (game screen) goes all wonky.

Any ideas? I'd love to bring this one in the house!

Thanks everyone!!!

Justin

I have the same problem on my top screen.

I haven't had the time to dive into it yet, but I was told to try tweaking the horizontal hold vr451 or could be a cold solder joint on the board.

John, that is EXACTLY what my screen is doing. It's odd though that simply unplugging and reattaching the video signal molex fixes the problem, which seems to negate adjusting any pots...

Mine use to fix itself by simply pressing the reset button on the control panel. But, since I tried swapping the video cables to determine if it was a monitor or PCB problem, I have to power cycle the entire machine a couple time before it goes back to normal.

For me, I'll try tweaking the horizontal hold vr451 to see if that does indeed help. If not, maybe look over for cold solder joints on the chassis.

Hi John, I adjusted the B+ and HH @ VR451 and my problem has resolved. Due to the fact our monitors looked identical in the trouble stage, I would suggest you try the same adjustment on yours. Thank you for your posts!
