I am trying to troubleshoot a PC10 pcb for a fellow KLOV'r.

The 8pin PROM at U4 (see pic below for an example) on the PCB is bad. I am trying to see if I can simply dump the image from a working U4 PROM and reburn.

I am not sure what the nomenclature of the chip it is as I cannot see any markings. I saw a reference to an 8pin security chip (RP5H01) at http://playchoice.riemen.net/downloads/RP5H01.pdf and believe this is it.

Can anyone confirm that U4 is an RP5H01? Also, would I be able to simply dump the image from a good chip and burn to a blank RP5H01? If so, where could I purchase a blank RP5H01?

Thanks.

Before dumping them, you may want to see if it has already been dumped.

Also, the RP5H01's are not available anymore. I'm not aware of any burner that can burn them. If the security chip is bad, you either don't use the board or run the hacked BIOS.

Yeah, I'd either find a new board or pick up the replacement bios chip from Pete at the PAR site. He'll give it to you for the price of the chip and shipping. I'm fairly certain those security chips can't be reproduced.

Thanks for the info... I emailed the PAR site owner so hopefully he will be able to provide one.
