I aquired a PC-10 dual monitor board and everything works except sound. I have done some testing and it seems to be on the board.

Speakers are good
Tried both monitor sound boards and a third known working from my DKjr
I've looked at the board and see nothing obvious.

Any ideas where to look? - Barry

The sound circuit in about anything is pretty simple. Just find the schematics, and find where the sound comes out of the board. Since you've got a dual monitor, that will work in your favor... find where the two wires going out to the two seperate monitors converge, and the problem will be from there back. Just see what the first chip or resistor or capacitor it runs into is, and test it, and keep working your way back until you find something that doesn't work right.

doesn't work right

sometimes a dried out electrolytic capacitor in the audio circuit will keep it from working correctly. cant tell you how many times thats been the fix.

they tend to dry out and cause all kinds of screwy problems. thats what i start with anyway. then im looking at the amp transistor for problems.

Any update?

Just picked up a Playchoice 10 with no sound. All connections look good, seems to be a board problem. Haven't gotten to testing yet, insanely busy now with 2 month old baby. Hoping for a point in the right direction. Thanks
