My first arcade project has been ongoing for a few years now. Having little time and money to work on it, leaving it tucked away in storage for a while and going through numerous moves have made it difficult to complete. Now that I have finally settled in, had some free time and money, I was able to dust it off and finish it up. I have been picking up parts here and there for a while and now that I have finally figured out that pesky light gun situation, my Playchoice is pretty much complete. There is some minor detailing to do and a game or two that I would like to add, but I thought I post it up on here anyways.
Once I finally got into the build, it was not as difficult as I thought it was going to be. The final, and hardest part, was finding and fixing a working light gun. In order to get a working light gun, I only had to buy 3 light guns and a security bit off of eBay. After that it was some research, solder and a few rum and Cokes to get them figured out, working well and looking decent. I actually managed to get a working red gun and a working black gun once it was all said and done.
I still need to do a little sanding and some paint touch up, but I am glad to say it is complete and enjoyed on a regular basis. It certainly does not look like an original (even more so on the inside than the outside) but it works and I think it looks decent. And since its intention is purely for entertainment value, none of the originality really matters, right?
The cabinet is obviously not a Playchoice original, or even a Nintendo cab for that matter. I am not sure what the cabinet was originally, but I am curious if anybody can tell from my pictures.
Opinions and criticism are welcome. If anybody knows where I can find a Hogans Alley or Wild Gunman cart it would be much appreciated. Now I think I am going to go shoot some ducks and kick Mike Tyson's ass.
I wish I had taken some before pictures, or even some work in progress pictures, but it did not occur to me at the time. I have put a few pictures on this post, the rest of the album can be found at http://forums.arcade-museum.com/album.php?albumid=335
