Playchoice 10 - Lower monitor blurry

You can wait for Kaboom's reference but most likely these are the caps to get...but wait to confirm :)

This cap kit still good in light of the new developments?
You beat me to it. lol

Same flyback, aye?

Allegedly, yes:

i have not installed this flyback in a sanyo 20-Z2AW but the forums list it as correct for the Z2AW F5039-DCB, F5024-AJA, F5024-BBZ and Sanyo 18-Z2AB.

Different cap kit though:

Well cool... I now own a surplus supply of Sanyo EZ and Z2AW parts. They will come in handy I am sure.

lol @ caps to fix blurry monitor.

do both adjustment knobs to the flyback adjust brightness? I can never remember which is which, and I hate that metal cover thing and how you need to use an adjustment tool to do anything.

Cap kit and new flyback installed, but the blurry screen is still there.

Was a real bitch doing all this shit just to get the same result.

Pics of the board below. Hoping somebody can spot something I missed.

I noticed the B+ pot with the knob off, not sure if this is the culprit or not.

neither. focus comes from the flyback. the yoke obviously works, or you wouldn't have deflection.

was the flyback replaced and they wired the adjustment block wrong or something?
Ok full discourse:

I got this game from a fellow klover.

It sat for a year or so unwrapped until about a month ago. It wouldn't turn on and tripped the breaker.

Another awesome klov member sold me the psu/transformer block. It arrived and within 10 minutes my game was back to life. Perfect in every way.

That lasted two sessions. Third time it was turned on a hiss (maybe pop) sound was made. I knew something didn't sound right. Selected a game, lower monitor comes on but now the screen is blurry.

I replaced the monitor caps and flyback supplied by Security all according to the directions. Flyback first, but didn't solve it, then I went for the caps.

Screen was dark at first. It took a moment but then it was bright colorful and back to life, but blurry like when I take my contacts out...

Ampy mentioned to me something about B+ being correct. I ordered a B+ cap, however I am just poking around in the dark at the moment.

Thanks for any help, I sincerely appreciate it.

Where is the adjust pot for focus on that chassis? There should be two pots. One for focus and one for screen (aka brightness)

I dont see the flyback transformer adjustment board like you see on a normal 20Ez...

Did you test/replace the HOT when you replaced the flyback?

Have you measured your B+ voltage?

A few thoughts. Make sure the monitor is getting good power from power supplies. Maybe the pop you heard was from a cap in the PS and not the chassis.

Also verify you B+ is set to 108.

Buffet and Johns Arcade have some good video on YouTube

It's there. You can see the back of it in this pic. All wired as it should be.

Tested the B+ voltage and got a steady 110.6

Going to replace the cr25 neck connecter when the parts arrive.

Curious to know if replacing the B+ filter cap may help anything?

Anything else I should try testing or replacing at this point?
