My playchoice has been acting up off and on recently. When its not being played and just running, as it goes through games, it starts to freeze up and/or get 'blocky" on the screen.(kind of like old nintendo games did back in the day when you needed to blow in them). When it goes back to the main title screen its fine, it just does this when on games. Ive also had to reset it before due to it completely freezing up during mike tysons punchout gameplay. Usually hitting the reset button on the cp fixes it, but im really not sure what would cause this. My playchoice is in amazing shape, motherboard is super clean, any ideas what would be causing this, or any preventive measures I should be taking? Thanks guys, -Jason

sounds like somethings getting hot and gorking out. maybe one of those rectangular IC chips. when it does its blocky thing try turning off the game and unplugging it from the wall. then i would take the back of my finger and run it over the chips and feel if one of the chips is hot. could be you could glue on a heat sink onto the back of the chip and that might help dissipate the heat and it wont gork out anymore. could be that chip needs replacement but the heat sink is less work and adding a heat sink might tell you something. this method worked for a PACMAN JR i had and havent had trouble with it since.
use the back of my finger cause it seems to be able to detect heat faster than my finger pad.
also try feeling the transformer with it unplugged after sitting on for a while. could be problem with it if its getting real hot too. try measuring the voltages on the game board PCB when its gorking to see if its getting the correct voltage. you will have to look at the schematic to see which pin has what voltage and you will have to set your meter.
