Anyone can tell me how bad is the playchoice galaga game compared to the real thing? I know, since it's on the nintendo, I'm sure it will get no love... but just how bad (good) is it compared to the original?

It is the NES version. You do have to swap out the chips, but it is still fun. My kids have enjoyed playing it. It's not the original version, but a great alternative if you haven't got the original. Serves my needs when I want to play it. Someone out there burns the roms and then you put them on Golf, baseball, or Tennis. At least that is how mine works. My top screen still shows the old game, but if you select it, you actually play the Galaga. I know you can change the ROM somehow, but I haven't worried about it. It would be fun to learn how to do it.

The main pcb needs a mod to 8T. That will allow changes to each game (run bootlegs).

Form there U4 (If I remember right) holds the game information, what displays on the main menu, and you can change out the other chips to what games are compatible, (u1 and U2), on the actual game pcb.

as far as the game itself, its quite a bit easier than the arcade version. its not a bad port, but everything about it is stripped down compared to the real arcade version. in fact, if anything, playing the NES version will just frustrate you and leave you wanting to play the original that much more.
