Playchoice 10- Extensive restoration project underway- New member recently approved

Hello all! I was just recently approved for forum use. I am really excited to be here with like minded individuals. I have been repairing and collecting home consoles for a long time. If you name it I probably have it. While searching for home systems I stumbled across an old Playchoice-10. It was severely neglected and extremely unloved. At one point mice were living in it, an electrical fire had occurred and it had spent quite some time in a non climate controlled area. The list goes on and on. I couldn't leave it there to continue it's slow painful decay. I loaded it up and trucked it back to my warehouse. I used my console repair knowledge to get it up and running. That can only take me so far, that is why I am here now. I am hoping that I can pick a few brains and get it back to what it should be. Of the 10 roms, 5 worked perfectly, 1 works most of the time, Contra works when it wants and the other 3 have issues. Fester and Mario 3 show up on screen. When you select them, the unit pauses, refreshes and then they are gone. If my research is correct they have bad U2 chips. These are the Mask Rom variety. My first question is: Can Mask Roms be duplicated? I have seen tons on Eproms but nothing on Mask Roms. I know Eproms are reusable. Can I change a Mask Rom out with an Eprom? I am assuming that the PCB are good because They are showing up in the menu. Rad Racer plays but has corrupted graphics (bad U1 chip?). My next question is: Am I even on the right track? While I think I am, I am new to arcade repair. Home systems don't have roms quite like this. I think I have talked long enough for now. I will talk about the marquee light in another post. I want to thank you all for looking at this. Hopefully some of you really know the PC-10 and can help me out. A poor abused unit is counting on you all.

Thanks again,
Chris
