The bottom monitor on my PC10 DM seems to keep having random vertical syncs when starting a game. Sometimes it starts up as it should, synced correctly. Other times it begins incorrectly synced. I have found that if the game starts up incorrectly synced, I can hit the reset button and often times it will come up correctly when starting the same game again. Occasionally I have to reset it a second time and start the game. No matter what it always gets correctly synced after between one and three resets and starts. Attached are some examples of SMB and R'NA.

This is not only these two games, it is every game I have, including custom ROMs. It also does this when there are no custom ROMs present. I am using only an original 8T BIOS chip and no modifications to the PCB or monitor. Multiple monitor cables have been switched out to check. I purchased the cabinet and PCB separately, this has been occurring since hooking the system up. I am always able to correct it by messing with the vertical sync pot, but would rather not have to keep the cabinet open or continuously reset and start games repeatedly to get everything working correctly. I have not tried using the top display for the game yet, as the cables do not reach and I am trying to avoid removing either monitor as I rarely have anyone around to help with monitor removal and am not sure how difficult it is with this configuration.

Photo 1: R'NA first start
Photo 2: R'NA second start
Photo 3: R'NA third start (looks good to me)
Photo 4: SMB first start
Photo 5: SMB second start

The max photo upload is 5, but the third photo I had of SMB started up just fine.

On occasion the game will start out of sync and roll itself into the correct place, but this is not common.

Any help would be appreciated and if you need any other information, don't hesitate to ask!

We had a similar thing we were talking about on here about a year ago, except it was horizontal sync. Basically the selection menu, and the game menu are two seperate programs running which is why the sync is sligthly different. If you can't get it in the sweet spot where it's synced with both menus then you probably just need a capkit on the bottom monitor, imho.

I have since replaced my sync potentiometers, and that gave me more sensitivity when adjusting the sync.

I finally capped both monitors (it was just easier to take care of them both at once) and am still having the same issue with the bottom monitor. Do any of you think it could be the pots? Do you have any idea what kind I would need? There are so many available on trbr's website.

Did you try adjusting the sync pot yet?

Yes, it gets it into the right place, but when resetting back to the menu (only shown on the top monitor) the bottom goes black as it should. When starting up any game, even the same game, it still has the same issue. Sometimes it's synced correctly, sometimes it isn't.

I posted in this very thread, last December, about replacing the pots. As previously mentioned, I have replaced the pots on my Playchoice, and the sync issues was immediately rectifiable via sync pot adjustment.
