I just picked up a countertop PC 10 and I was wondering if the cooling fan in back is supposed to be running at all times or if it runs when it hits a certain temp? THanks for any help.

Well looks like I am in need of a new fan then. Hopefully its an easy fix.

Well bought a new fan and hooked it up. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Congrats if you picked that thing up. I wasn't on my game that day :D. Or you were the seller?

no, i was the buyer. :D.

Check and be sure connector P9 is hooked up at the filter board, and see if you have -12v at the connector. From there, i'd start working backwards and see if it has a blown trace somewhere on the filter board.

How do I check for a bad tracer? I am new to repairing these games. I noticed that the power suupply looks to not original. hmm. I will check volttage at p9 to see if I have juice .

i suspect that if the power supply's been replaced, there is no -12v on the new supply and therefore no fan. Simplest solution is to just wire the fan to +12v and gnd on the power supply itself.

As far as finding bad traces - your eyes and if its a small trace a magnifying glass to see if the metal on the board itself is burnt in two.
