What sort of chemicals do you guys like to use to clean things up for resto?

Buttons?

Joysticks and Joystick balls?

plexi bezel and marquee scratches (front side)

best thing to clean CPO's with?

We started using "Mean Green" from the Dollar Store a few years ago, and it's incredible. It is a pretty aggressive cleaner, so be careful where you use it; sometimes I use it for really dirty sideart to take off the top layer of crud, then follow up with something milder like "Mean Green Glass Cleaner".

For control panels, I spray on Mean Green, let it sit for a few seconds and then use an old toothbrush to scrub. Nothing else I've used cuts through the tar and nicotine build up like Mean Green, and it's cheap as well.

Don't confuse it with Simple Green, which is okay but not nearly as strong and cost more.

for most plastic parts I use novus. It's specifically made to use on plastics. It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish though. If the parts are really dirty you may need a stronger cleaner.

Retrobrite
Acetone
Dawn dish soap
Windex
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
Simple Green (will look into Mean Green)
Bleach

(Steel Wool for rust tho this isn't chemical also not for plastic, :D and a toothbrush or bristle brush)

sticks and buttons get disassembled and soaked for 24 hours

If its something thats REALLY dirty/stained/faded/cig burned... then I look for replacements. Things like buttons are pretty cheap.
