Placing a Pac-Man PCB into a Galaxian cab, same pinout ?

I have a Galaxian / Midway cabinet that I have been slowly converting into a pac-man cabinet, It has the original wiring and the Galaxian PCB was working when removed in terms of sound / video / and controls. If I were to toss in a Pac-Man PCB into it's place would I need to modify any of the existing wiring , or would it just work ?

You would have to add the two extra joystick inputs to the wiring. I cant remember for sure but I think the pinout for the sound may be different too. A quick look at the manuals will tell you for sure. Check the klov listings, the manuals are there.

I believe the pinouts are different with Galaxian and the Pacs... pretty sure they are. (about 90% sure).

I'm actually on the road right now filling up with gas (yay blackberries) but I'll double check and post the pinouts when I get to work if you haven't already got them by the time I get there.

cool, if any one knows what I need to modify on the wiring in order for my pac-man to work inside the galaxian cab (soon to become my Pac)please let me know. So far I already posted this in another thread but this is my status so far:

Before----------------------------------After (So Far)

I didn't order my Pac-Man PCB yet... but when I do / obtain it i want to make sure I'm able to safely connect / test it to the existing galaxian wiring. And of course ultimatley have it working with the existing wiring instead of having to replace the entire harness etc.

Well... looks like most of it is the same... but to be honest, I think instead of cutting and moving wires around, it'd be much easier to build an adapter and add the extra wires needed to the adapter and run them to the CP.

There are enough differences to make it worth your while to build an adapter. A 44 pad finger board from Bob Roberts and a 44 pin connector, just sever a few of the traces and run jumper wire to where it's needed... most of it is the same though... Unless you want to cut into the existing harness and run the extra wires and redo the connector.

Its only 3 or 4 wires that need to be changed. If your not going back to galaxian I would just do it the right way instead of an adapter.
Like I said, about 2 minutes of your time to download the manuals will answer your question.

Is that remnants of original art or some kind of kit art?

it was more of a galaxian hybrid so to speak of it had been painted over black and had galaga 88 side art. I'm just waiting on my stencils to arive in the mail, once I complete the art I'll probably order the board... Looking for an original PAC for a good deal I've seen slot of people with ms PAC boards that seem to claim they are PAC-man boards.. I dont mind if the original board has new caps etc so long as it's original. I also want to find a clean board where the wire traces look clean and non melty ... The general PAC boards I've seen have been in the 75-100 shipped category I'm looking for that nice original unhacked clean one in the 75 range they seem to be pretty common so I'm sure I'll track it down.

You know, all the Ms Pac boards say "Pac Man" on them..

I have a mostly complete Pac harness, PS etc Id let go cheap..

I appreciate the offer but I already have a working power supply and would want to use the already existing galaxian harness .

I'm not sure how long that original power supply will last but I think bob Roberts sells adaptor / newer switching power supply for pacs, again at this time I don't need it but would go that route should
mine fail. Just trying to save some money on existing working parts.

Ok so I finally got my Pac-Man PCB and I almost have everything up and running with the exception of no sound and I can't move down... P1 start works along with up,left, right I also have the coin door lit up as well as the marquee... I didn't add any wiring maybe some one can tell me exactly what I need to do to the existing galaxian wire harness. Again this is going to be a dedicated Pac man and I don't intend on running any other boards. I know worse case I can always get an adaptor but if it's only two wires I'd rather save my money. Please help thanks !
