I'm not saying names... but I need to vent.

A KLOVian PMed me regarding a CL listing I have for my Spy Hunter.

After a few emails back and forth the KLOVian decides that "yeah he wants it".

I reply:

Should I consider the SH sold (do I remove the listing from CL)?
His reply:

Yep, SOLD.
I also shot over a list of games the guy was looking for to the locals around here in an effort to save the guy some dough on shipping. A few days go by and yesterday I get:

Hi Jon, things are good, i'll shoot a check out to you today or tomorrow...
...then this morning I get:

Hey sorry to do this to ya, but I found a SH cockpit last night about an hour away so I'm going to have to pass on yours. You have been great to deal with and very accommodating.
>sigh<

Now... what pisses me off is that I made a buying decision 3 days ago based on this cab being sold. MY BAD. I shouldn't have done that without money in hand but I figured it's a KLOVian... and the guy confirmed with me that it's sold... so I pulled the trigger.

Well now shit... I'm now $500 in the hole and the games not sold. Great.

Lesson learned. Don't trust anyone. Period.

EDIT: Oh... and my ole man had a saying for this kind of thing... chicken shit.

EDIT #2: Oh yeah... the entire point of this post (other than for me to vent)...

PEOPLE... PLEASE... DON'T SAY "IT'S SOLD" UNLESS YOUR FREAKIN' SERIOUS ABOUT BUYING AND FOLLOWING THROUGH. THANK YOU.

/me looks into fake email accounts and what is being sold in eye-duh-ho

Money in hand=Sold
Anything else is just talk. Hell, there's a KLOVER on here (he knows who he is) who fucked me over on my TRON/Donkey Kong combo deal. I gave him a GREAT price on the condition that he took both. No problem...he picks up the TRON for 400.00 (very, very nice shape, BTW) and promises to come back later that weekend for the DK. He doesn't. I call him-voicemail. I email him-nothing. So fuck him. my only regret is that he has one of my new moving blankets, too. Way to go ****!

Now THAT would have REALLY pissed me off...

I've had to re-list a few games that were "definitely considered sold" over the years. That, combined with the no-show people who give you a time when they're coming to look at the game drive me nuts.

It sucks. People can be such flakes.

Fucked up.

BTW sweet Avatar ;)

Well... with me...

Craigslister = Consider it UNSOLD until dough is in hand period. Chances are HIGH that you're dealing with a flake.

KLOVian = Thus far... up until today... every KLOVian has been solid when it comes to purchasing a cab... I did have one douchebag who will remain nameless flake on me with a PCB purchase but not a cab purchase... so I put the likeliness of this being an actual "done deal" pretty high. My fault. I should be leery of everyone it seems. WTF happened to "your word is bond"? I would have been only "slightly peeved" if it wasn't for the fact that I made that $500 purchase using "house" dough knowing that when I got the dough from the SH I'd re-plentish the ole "HOUSE SAVINGS ACCOUNT". Now I get to go explain to the ole' lady that $350.00 of the $500 I spent on the Black Widow came from the house account and that I'll pay it back when I can. This guarantees me a least a few minutes of bitching...

...see... the way I keep the ole' lady off my back when it comes to purchasing games is that I use GAMEROOM dough... dough generated from selling games, parts, etc.... to buy other games, parts, etc. Sometimes my funds are a little short, so I "steal" a little from the household savings account for a week or two... until I can pay it back.

Sorry the deal didn't work out for you, but I agree...a deal isn't a deal until both sides receive their respective deposit/payment/goods. You gotta realize that some KLOVers are the same as CListers or eBayers in the way they do business. That's apparent in the FS/FT forum at times.

Take a non-refundable deposit BEFORE you pull any ad listings or leave it first come first serve if they are unwilling to give you any money up front.

Not quite as severe, but along the same lines of CL frustrations. Have you ever had the experience of finding that ONE game you've sought after and you post that you want to buy it 3 times, over the course of 3 days. And you never recieve a response email?
What's up with that? Do I smell or something? Even asking if it's still for sale - no response.
I think I've only had this happen maybe once before on another cabinet, I initially low-balled and never heard anything back. I realized well, crap I don't want to lose this over $50. After I met his price I recieved a flood of emails.
But this one - I'm mystified. Has anyone else had this silent treatment?

Hmmm...there was a Spy Hunter cockpit on sale down here this week. Wonder if its the same one in question.

I guess someones word doesn't mean anything anymore. Once he agreed to buy it, he should follow through.

Or, at least try and work out a deal. Since his shipping cost would probably have cost almost as much as the game, he has enough cash to send Frizz the money for the game and have Frizz sell it local. When it sells Frizz sends the money to him.

Frankly, I'm not much in to this "situation". My game is priced pretty high... I admit that.. but that is what I need from it to sell it. He contacted me... didn't even try to negotiate on price (which was a surprise frankly). Asked if I had any other games for sale and shot me out a list of games he was looking for. I replied that I didn't have anything on his list but that I'd forward the list to the locals around here. The idea was (obviously) to find a cab or two more to make shipping less of a hard pill to swallow. I know for a fact that one local replied to him with at least one of the games on his list... but it's my understanding that he wasn't interested in making that deal.

I need to really try to blow this off. This weeks been a bit of an emotional week for me (90% to do with "real life" stuff including my brother-in-law having his 3rd surgery in 2 months (long story))... and and this has gotten me a bit more angry than it really should have.

It's on me. I'm the dumb ass who "assumed" (and we all know what that is) that the "deal was done".

I talked with the ole lady... she's actually not pissed... at me... ;)

Getting to "frame" the explanation the way I was able helped in being able to deflect any bitchiness she felt toward the buyer...

:D

One small >win< I suppose...

EDIT: BTW - The guy WAS real nice in his "sorry bro" email (and all along). I'm sure he "dreaded" having to write it... at least I hope he did. ;)

The least you could do is call him/her out so we know that their word is no good until we have cash in hand. It'll make you feel better too... :)

Naw. Like I said. It's on me. If I felt hard-core screwed by the guy (lets say I took it the next step and said to the guy "Hey man, I want to make 100% sure this is a DONE DONE DEAL as I am about to spend $500 of that money" and the guy replied with "YES, DONE DEAL!" then pulled this)... I'd be the first person screaming the guys name.

That didn't happen exactly. I did confirm with him... but I only mentioned my CL ad... the Black Widow deal came a day or two later.

EDIT: ...or had he been a complete dick about it (which he wasn't).

Naw. Like I said. It's on me.
Please explain to me how someone else not honoring their word is "on you?" So not doing what you say you will do is okay as long as you are nice about it? Come on bro, a deal is a deal. Either your word is good or it is no good, there is no in between. Don't you think others have a right to know that when this individual says, "I'll take it" that it does not mean the deal is complete? BOO!

My choosing to spend dough I didn't have already is "on me".

Had I not done such a thing, then the fact the guy didn't honor his word wouldn't really have stung at all... it takes about 2 minutes or less to re-input the price in my CL ad and remove ***SOLD***...

What difference does what you did have to do with me wanting others to know that when this individual says, "we have a deal" that it might not in fact be a deal until they actually have the cash in hand? I call this looking out for others.

Dude that sucks big time! Too bad you can't post his name here because I don't want to even deal with shit holes like that! I hate flakes!
