Hey gang,

I just picked up a minty PotC pinball and she plays and looks beautiful... with one exception.

There is a small 'foot' that holds the sails of the pirate ship upright, and when it releases the sails drop (as they should). However... the sails only drop once out of every 20ish attempts. It almost seems like the mech for the release is getting caught on something. I've looked at the assembly and I don't see any obstructions.

Thoughts/help?

Is the latch dirty/gummed up?

When I trigger the latch manually, it is definitely 'sluggish'. Doesn't 'appear' dirty from top-down inspection.

I am not familair with the setup. Is there any type of adjustment on the latch assembly? Does it have a small coil that is used to *trip* the sail. If so the spring on it may need to be looked at.

Check the wiring to the coil that releases the latch (for dropping the sails). The constant up/down movement causes those wires to twist and eventually break. Replacing them w/ some thicker gauge wires should keep you good for a while!
