I know of a Pirates I could get for sub $2k. I see what boston pinball is saying the going ebay rate is (2500). Anyone have any more input. I am considering if it is worth picking up to resell on a bigger stage.

those machines i see allthe time go for 3000-3200. Id be all over it at sub 2000$ If you do like the game at at least you would get you money back+ sum

GO GET IT!!!!!

I don't think you would have a hard time selling it for what you payed. Unless it's a HUO machine I doubt you would be able to sell it for $3k or more.

Well, I'll call about it tommorrow morning. It is in excellent shape, just needs a bit of cleaning because it is on-site.
If anyone here is truly interested in it, PM me. I'd be happy to let it go to a fellow KLOV'er for gas money and a week or two of free play in my gameroom. :D

Well, it is sitting in my gameroom as we speak. Am I happy with the purchase, well I really don't know. Do I know what I am going to do with it now that I have it, no I don't. For now, we will play it and think about it. I was hoping to negotiate, but I had to pay full price plus tax. :mad:
Hell, I am considering shopping out my Lethal Weapon to sell, plus another game or two to offset the entire cost and keep it. Time will tell.

While it is incredibly clean for a route game, it does have a few coil issues. The autolaunch is wussy and will not launch the ball. The left sling is dead, but it did work when I first started tinkering. The right sling is wussy, and tends to fire when I activate a flipper. I assume the switches are just poorly adjusted too close.

The cabinet is simply immaculate. How a game can be on route for several years and not appear to have a scratch on it...just makes my brain hurt from thinking about it.

The playfield needs a tear down and cleaning, but it will look damn near brand new. The only thing I see that is not fixable, is that the ship is missing a small chunk where the ball smacks it repeatedly. I would assume that is pretty typical.

I'll be back in a few minutes with a few pictures...

Can't wait for the pics!

That sounds like it won't be a loss even if you had to sell it quickly once you clean it up nice. I wouldn't sweat the purchase too bad, although paying tax to "the man" is never fun...

Here are some pics. I'm the ugly dude in black, and dirty as hell. And yes, that is the obligatory Billy Mitchell thumbs up.
Jimmy - the guy in red - is my fellow gameroom bud that dragged me into this hobby into the first place. He left this evening with my Jungle King Mame. Sayonara first ever project cabinet.

wow that playfield doesnt look bad at all for a routed machine! I played one the other day and it was sooo dirty the playfield was basically black!

Nice!!! Well, it wasn't really "on route", it was in the same non-smoking gameroom the whole time, and it actually only moved about 15 feet since it was set up initially. So that's not quite the same as a pin that literally was on a route and got moved several times like most do.

That game will clean up nice and easy. No need to do anything inside the head or under the playfield. Basically just have to clean the top, and even the topside won't be that bad, I'm sure.

Although... I can't believe you gave Jimmy my Jungle King!? Just kidding. :)

Yep, one location it's whole life. It has about 14k plays on it.

And don't worry - Jimmy's wife will be more than happy to pass the JK right on to you! :D

If I were closer to you, I would be happy to buy it from you. Great score nonetheless! You wont have a problem finding a buyer.

Just went through the firmware upgrade list. The game is currently 1.09, which is pretty much the last major overhaul. The current software is 6.0. The only slightly major thing added is a skill shot.

Got to spend a bit of quality time this evening.
- left sling had a bent switch. Fixed, adjusted, and is nice and strong now.
- right sling was pretty much stuck on. Adjusted and it fires correctly, but really weak. Results in a drain down middle when hit and headed for flippers... didn't test coil.
-Auto plunger: Reflowed and added solder to lugs. Ohms out to 4.1 ohms, and has the same voltage at both lugs. Still only knocks ball about 2" up the shooter lane. Now what???
- Didn't see anything wrong with the VUK. I guess the switch is going bad.

Notes: All the mods I've been eyeing online are badass! I may not do them all, but the green spotlights on the Dutchman is going to happen. Amazing how much ambience 2 green lights adds.

I also went ahead and Novus'ed the main chunk of playfield. It made the game incredibly fast. Of course, it will get dirty again pretty quick. ;)

My wife got home last night from her mini-trip. She played the pin for a while, and has decided she would sell whatever else in the gameroom it took to keep it.

I also have to say the game is growing on me. I finally started to pay attention to the rules. They aren't spelled out all that great on the instruction card, so you have to study the playfield.
Basically:
Boat = Medieval Madness Castle
Chest = Scared Stiff crate

I never noticed before that every time you destroy the ship, you fight a new one from the movies. The taunting voice changes each time just like the castle.
The voicework is also growing on me. The Depp impersonator is far better than I originally gave him credit. Music has gotten a bit more tolerable, but it is still sorely lacking the main movie theme. Too bad there isn't a way to use the SAM upgrade system to manually add it.
