Pinrepair.com no longer free

Shit... I may just cough up the $10... I can't get it to download images... and even the pages that download are still pointing to the URL not the local file folders...

I just checked it out. Only the Capcom Pinball repair guide is still working. All the other guides are now pay!

The restoration guides still work (for now).

I have a feeling this will piss off a lot of people and will backfire on the museum.

Glad I saved some of these guides on my computer.

I was going to send them some of my information on the repairs I've been doing on the Atari Superman for their Atari pinball page. That's not going to happen now so I guess I will just have to post it here when I get it finished.

which command line switches did you use, lindsey?

I used google cache and this:

wget -r -l1 -UFirefox -H -erobots=off --wait 1 --exclude-domains=images.google.com,maps.google.com,news.google.com,mail.google.com,video.google.com,groups.google.com,books.google.com,scholar.google.com,finance.google.com,blogsearch.google.com,www.youtube.com,picasaweb.google.co...e.com,www.snowbrasil.com,translate.google.com google_cache_url

replace google_cache_url with the URL from google.

wget can take some tweaking but it's what I'm used to :)

Yeah. haha

There is wget for windows but it's probably far from the best option here.

I really don't mind paying the $10. I probably would have donated more than that if he just put up a link asking for support for the museum. My only beef is that he's "selling" content that he didn't develop and a lot of which was specifically intended to be free. Not that I'm even all that upset about it. Just seems like something that people are not going to appreciate.

I'll cough up the dough as well... but I want to be 100% certain that "membership" = access to the site... not just a CD.

i just looked at their site, like how they bootleg gottlieb t shirts!!!
my friend makes shirts like that on a heat press with a transfer..
u can see the transfer lines wow...
some one will step up and put all the pin info on a blog for us...hopefully.
do they even have the copywrights to sell these on a cd?
so that would be a pirating as well...
i know a guy that got caught selling bootleg cdrs of live shows and did 2 fucking years in prison for it!!!
what in the hell gives them the idea they can make money off guides...no better than the ebay sellers who copy the guides and sell them for high prices...
piss up your ass!

I was able to look at the Gottlieb system 80 sound page just now, but that's probably due to it being in my cache. I'm not a huge pinball guy, but that site definitely helped me work on my Q*Bert sound board to get the speech running again.

...well... I guess I'll go about this differently...

Anyone who's successfully pulled the content and it's working locally for you... any chance you can upload it to MEGAFILES or some other place for the dipshits like me who can't get it right to download?

Thanks!

damn - it looks like google's cache no longer has the older content - i just did wget, and i get presented with the same thing as the real site now.

want to tar/zip your archive and put it on an ftp site somewhere lindsey? :).

I'm still able to get Google's cached pages (I checked the Data East and System 3-7).

What I'm running into is I can't seem to get HTTrack to work on Google's cached pages, but it will work on Web Archive. The problem is that Web Archive's last scrape of the site is older than Google's. So any updates made up until last week aren't at Web Archive. Anyone know how to get HTTrack to work with Google cache?

I manually saved Google's cached pages this morning with Firefox, but doing it that way doesn't grab all the linked files such as service bulletin images.
