HI, great site, very informative and helpful. Can anyone assist, I have recently purchased a Pinbot and during play for no reason the Tilt comes on and ball drains. No pre danger warning (brought on by moving plumb bob). The bearing has been removed from tilt mechanism by a previous owner for some reason and is missing, so assume they were experiencing same problem, that they couldn't fix. Also one light behind a buffer on but very dim.
Additionally Ball when first tested, would travel to mid point of spiral and no further. Now will not even travel that far. Appears to be firing with good force though. Any pointers greatly appreciated. I Love this machine and am trying to track down Bride and Jack but they seem to be few and far between here in the U.K!!

That happened on mine, and I realized that the switch on the back of the roll tilt had worked its way loose and was periodically contacting the roll tilt bracket. Tightened it back up and the problem went away.

Tornado ramp: have you cleaned the shooter lane and ramp? Have you tried using a new pinball? Sounds like friction from a dirty ball or path.

OK, the problem most probably isn't (and never was) with the plumb bob tilt.

That is only one of several ways a game can tilt.

There are several slam tilt switches in various places that are designed to tilt the game when a player bangs the machine around.

These are usually on:

The coin door
The bottom of the cabinet
The bottom of the playfield

Any one of those can be activating during play and causing the game to tilt

Some of the are Normally Open (NO) and some are Normally Closed (NC)

One of these is activating during play and you need to find out which one it is

(As a side note, put the tilt bob assembly back together properly when you're done - no reason it should not be working correctly)

You have a manual for this game, yes?

You need to put the game into service mode and choose the switch edge test

Then, with the glass off, bang around on the playfield with your fist and knock the cabinet around a bit - you are trying to get the bad slam tilt switch to fire and show up on the display so you know which one it is.

It may also be a problem with the switch matrix where another switch (like a traget switch) is showing up as a slam tilt switch (the wrong switch) because a diode is missing or broken off of another switch in the same row or column.

You need to identify which switch is the problem, and use the switch test mode to determine this.

Strange thing is no matter how many players are up it seems to do it only on one ball (from memory first ball) and doesn't happen again throughout play. I do not recall in the 20 games played/tested (At least I told my wife I was testing!!) tilt happening more than once during a credit. This may of course be coincidence or not. I have very limited experience although I and a friend have mechanical and electrical knowledge from working on disabled scooters they are somewhat different!!!

I would also consider a switch wired wrong, diode facing the wrong direction, or a short to switch lugs or wiring.
