I recently bought a Pin*Bot and was told by the seller that it would ocassionally reset when the Visor would open or close. Sure enough, it happens just enough to be annoying. Somethimes you can play 5-6 games without it happening, but then it'll do it twice in a row. We thought it might be a problem with the visor motor itself, but I bought a new one and we changed it out tonight, and it's still doing the same thing. Anyone ever have a similar problem, or have an idea where we might check next?

I would say something is causing a power drain significant enough to interrupt the game program. Weak power supply maybe?

When i did a search i came up with the same answer. Looks like we will be looking at your power supply.

Could also check and make sure nothing nearby might be getting in contact with the leads for the motor and shorting when it's opening/closing....

Might be some wires getting pushed around by the motion of the visor hinge or target carrier assembly that are only intermittently making contact where they shouldn't be.

No, it's kinda on the back burner. I think we will end up rebuilding the power supply. Changing the motor out made no difference.

I was going to buy a motor also, then I saw your post and decided not to. What makes you think its the power supply?

Read my post above, thats why I think it is. If its not the motor, then it really sounds like a power supply.

Here is a little more info,
When power is turned on sometimes it locks up as soon as the visor motor starts.
Or the motor will run until I press the visor open switch, then the game locks up.
With the visor motor disconnected the game doesn't lock up.
If you guys still think it's the power supply, will order one tonight.

power

i do think its poweer supp
they cause a drain on weakly working 5vdc when motors /flippers /large devices operate

Just wanted to say thanks for the help guys. Got a new power supply installed this weekend and machine worked fine, no resets with machine running for over 12 hrs. Thanks again.
