I measured the voltage on my board the other day. They all measure pretty close except the 3j6 12 volt is measuring at 14volts. So I did some research and it appears that I should replace the capacitors. I don't know if they have ever been replaced.

So my question is. I have looked at several sites and can't seem to find the exact capacitors that the manual states need to be used. Does anyone know a good source that has the capacitors?

And while I am looking for parts I cant seem to find any coils in stock for the AE-23-800-03. Is the AE-23-800-01 the same?

As always appreciate any of your suggestions.

Tom

Are you having problems or is this a preventative measure?

The +12v in Sys 11 games is unregulated -and readings up to about 14v are typical. Just wondering what led you down this path?

Marco suggests the -00 is a suitable coil replacement for the -03. I notice it doesn't have a diode though.

No real problems but I am just now finding time to go over it after I bought it.
The only real issue is there is some burned soot on the Special solenoids section of the MPU which was repaired by someone else and some burned or soot on some of the connectors.

I thought I would check all the power voltages and replace some of the coils as a preventative measure. My thinking was that this is what caused the burn in on the MPU.

Thanks for your reply.

The heat related discoloration on the board - that's just from the operating temperature of the components and not related to voltage you are seeing. Common, and IMHO not worth messing with if everything works OK.

The burnt connectors/pins - that is what I would tackle first. Again, not caused by too much voltage, it's just the nature of the design. Not the sexiest repair out there, but something that should be done. Replace both the male & female sides of the connectors (including pins on the boards if necessary).

I'm a cheap SOB, so I wouldn't replace a working coil. If they all ohm out good (> 3 ohms or so, some probably much higher), there's not much upside to spending the money. You won't see any performance improvement unless it's a result of you disassembling and cleaning the physical mechanism. If you want to mess with the coils, put in new coil sleeves. A quarter a piece or so, and definately a good use of your funds.

I bought a Pinbot a few months ago, and I'm really enjoying it. Addictive gameplay and its' reputation is well deserved.

The caps for these boards can be found here:

Including the hard to find axial 18000uF cap.
If the caps look original - good idea to replace them.

But, the 3J6 12volts is coming from an "unregulated" supply which can vary widely -- 14VDC from that supply is fine.

Thanks for all your help. I will start with the connections which I suspect will take me some time. Then look at the caps closer.
