Hello i have a pinbot that is playing all the speech and sound effects but no music i went through the sound audits and nothing. It started with no music playing on the first ball and on the second ball the music would play, now i get no music at all. I purchased a sound board and switched it out and still no music. Anyone have any ideas to the problem, the main board has two sound roms should i replace those?

Im not an expert but since noone responded, maybe you could pull those roms and clean the legs. Im sure someone will have better advice but you could just try this.

Did you ever figure this out? My Pinbot is doing the exact same thing...

I just had a problem on a Bad Cats audio board where the music and effects were very quiet, but speech was super loud.

I recapped the board and all was well. All of the blue axial electrolytic capacitors (all 10 uf @ 25v) were showing bad on my capacitor ESR meter. Replacing the electrolytics cured it.

So music and sound effects/speech are different boards? For me the music just doesn't start when it should. It's not there for ball one but might be for ball two. Speech and sound are ok throughout.

Rebooting the game may or may not fix the issue temporarily.

It wouldn't hurt to resolder all the connector pins on your audio board.

I have seen instances where the ribbon cable has gone bad too.

So, the chip on my audio board has a sticker that says Music/Speech. What seems to work all the time is the speech and sound effects but the music is intermittent.

That being said I pulled the sound board. I almost replaced those 10uf 35v caps because I happen to have some 10uf 50v caps on hand. Mine are radial though and while I know they will work just as well as the axial ones I try to stick to the form factor the board wants where possible. I followed your suggestion and reflowed all of the connector pins and reinstalled the board. Then I play tested off and on over about five hours and didn't have any issues with the sound. The problem is very intermittent so I'm not calling it fixed. Going to order the caps next. Thanks for the advice so far. Fingers crossed...

This game is aging and has more than one little issue like this. I finally got all the lights working when I found one of the large resistors on the system 11 board had a broken leg. And most annoying of all is that after I lose the ball if I hit the left flipper before the next ball comes into play it tilts and I lose my score. I have tried to do the matrix thing to find a bad diode but no luck yet on that one. Still learning too...
