Pinbot issue: Right eject and sun flasher not working

It looks like these are on the same solenoid.. 08A / 08C.

This is my first pin, so I'm not sure if this is something simple or what, but I tested the voltage to both sides of the coil and I'm getting power. Also, I checked the resistance and it looks fine. The relay *is* firing. Sometimes the right eject (08A) DOES fire.. I'm not sure what causes it to work or stop working, but every once in a while after fiddling with it it will kick.

Any ideas of what I should check? Could the kicker itself be faulty? Is there anything anyone can recommend to help narrow down what the problem might be?

So if I'm correct the right kicker AND the sun flasher don't work?

These are "Bank Selected Solenoids". They share the same driver transistor (they are not "on the same solenoid", as you suggested).

This works generally as follows: a first driver transistor controls a relay. This relay will select the correct bank (A or C).

Then a second transistor comes in play. That transistor controls a solenoid or a flasher in the selected bank. This way you only need n+1 transistors to control 2n solenoids/flashers.

Since other things are working (and the relay is firing), the first transistor that I mentioned (selecting the bank) should be fine.

So a possibility is that the second transistor is bad, the one that is shared between the right kicker and the sun flasher. In a PinBot, this is transistor Q22.

You can do this to test a transistor quickly:

* Turn the game off and put your DMM on continuity testing (buzzing)
* Put one lead of the DMM on the ground strap in the backbox
* Put the other lead on the metal head (with the hole in it) of the driver transistor Q22

If it buzzes, the transistor is shorted. Replace the TIP122 transistor with a TIP102. I would suggest replacing the pre-transistor 2N4401 too.
