My PinBot has nice bright displays when I first turn it on, but after a couple minutes they start dimming, flickering, and going out. Turn off the game for a bit and it'll have nice bright displays again when I first turn it on. I am still a bit of a n00b when it comes to pinball. Where should I be starting my troubleshooting? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Look for bad solder joints at the connector pins on the power supply board.

It's also possible that one or both of the 39k @ 1/2 watt resistors in the high voltage section of the power supply board are failing. You need to unsolder one lead of those two resistors to get an accurate resistance reading on your ohm meter. Trying to measure the resistance of the resistors while still connected in the circuit will give false readings.

Yea..Pull the power supply board out and reflow the pins and see what it dose..Hopefully it will work..

When I bought it the first thing I did was look to see if the displays were bright and clear. They were so I stopped worrying about them. Then while I was trying to get it to start a game (a couple of the switches under the apron need adjusted...ball drain and the one that recognizes how many balls are in the machine) and I looked up and all the displays were jacked. I freaked and turned the game off and cried on the inside. Then I turned it on again later that afternoon and the displays came right on and I was like, huh? That's weird.

Anyways, thank you guys for the quick replies. I will let y'all know what happens.

I reflowed the pins and there is no change. I will have to take a little time and check into the resistors. I noticed a couple of ugly things on the power board that probably needs addressed. I will take some pictures of it tomorrow.

Try wiggling the connectors to see if you can get it to flicker bright. That's how I like to find cracked solder joints on pins.

If all the above mentioned doesn't resolve the issue, they displays may be outgassing. But then again if all the displays are flickering in the same fashion, the power supply rebuild sounds more like it. But if it's only one or two display modules, the glasses could be outgassing as well.
