Here is the list of arcade games

I read the list. It only has about 9 classics other than what is on the multi-game machines. I was under the impression they would have more classic vids but maybe not.

It also says they will keep rotating things in and out cause it sounds like most everything will also be for sale for the right price. I forgot about this place. Thanks for reminding me. Im just glad they are going to have a Dr. Who I can go there and play. I have a feeling im going to be there alot.

Several members here (not me) and at least one local operator have been assisting with this...

Now I know where my co-worker's Indiana Jones pin ended up. I'm curious to see how much they shopped it...

Got this email earlier with more details:

Thanks for the huge response to the upcoming opening of Pinballz Arcade and Mikki's Replay Café! Here are some quick answers to some of your questions. We are working day and night to get the arcade up and running in November, so please have patience with our slow responses and thanks for your interest!

Darren & Mikki

Q: Where are you guys located?

A: 8940 Research Blvd. Suite 100, Austin, TX 78758 PH: 512-420-TILT (8458). www.pinballzarcade.com. We are on the southbound access road of 183 just south of Burnet Rd., Sherlocks, and the bowling alley - across the tracks in the large green building with Greensheets (Pinballz sign coming soon!).

Q: When is the arcade officially Open?

A: We are targeting mid-November, assuming we can get the city to agree to our bathroom count…

Q: What Hours/Days are you going to be open?

A: We are considering Wed-Sun with shorter hours Wed-Thur and Sunday, and later hours Fri and Sat. Monday and Tuesday are reserved for corporate parties renting out the entire arcade.

Q: Are you Hiring?

A: Yes! We are hiring and will be posting job specs on Craigslist any day now. Looking for a PT arcade manager, a few PT and FT staff, and PT/FT café staff (will train Barista skills). We are also looking for skilled PT technical staff that have experience fixing pinball machines and arcade games. AND we are still accepting volunteers to help get every game fixed, shopped, and working 100%.

Q: Are you going to be serving Food and Drink?

A: Yes! Mikki will open her coffee and soda bar, along with beer and wine, as soon as we have a permit. Mikki's menu will vary and have light fare with a large selection of healthy food for adults and kids.

Q: Can I reserve a Party Room now?

A: Yes, you can start reserving them for December – just send us an email, date, time, and approximate count of party guests and we'll add you to the growing list – first come first serve. We are also reserving a few private parties for late November, assuming we can open in time.

Q: When will Mikki's Replay Café be open?

A: If we can get through permitting and build-out done quickly we can open before Christmas.

Q: Will you have X_Y_Z_ game?

A: Please check our web site for a complete list of games at www.pinballzarcade.com We are trying to have over 75 games operation on our open day, and at least 125 by our grand opening in December.

Q: Are you buying and selling games now and what do you pay for them?

A: Yes we buy, sell, trade, and repair games. Please send us an email with the name and condition of the game and we will contact you. No, our repair department is not open yet (we're still trying to get all our games operational 100%...) but will be in December.

Q: Can we start forming leagues (for pinball, air hockey, skeeball, etc.)?

A: Only members can form leagues, and we have not yet begun selling memberships (except Founding Members). We hope to have membership registration on our web site in the next week or two. After you join a certain level of membership you can host a league or tournament. Stay tuned to the web site. You can also send us a request for a league on the web site and we'll put that in the FIFO bucket.

I just hope they make it.

I really think they screwed up on their location. You can't see it when driving by on 183, nor on the other side of the highway on the access road. Unless they plan on putting a really tall sign up, or advertise heavily, who's going to know it's there? Limited parking may be an issue, too.

With Einstein's and Le Fun shutting down due to lack of interest within the past few years, and the only other places having some other attraction (bowling, go-karts, lazertag, etc), I don't know whether they'll be able to make enough money to stay viable...

It is interesting from this aspect: is running a mostly pinball arcade viable in TX? Their video collection really isn't anything special, but their pinball collection is very good. I know pinball collectors usually have deep pockets to be able to buy the machines in the first place. Will fond memories of pinball draw crowds of players and nostalgia buffs? To be running that many machines at a profit, they will have to turn a lot of yearly income to come ahead with all of the TX taxes levied on coin operated machines (arcade, vending, soda, etc)

Not sure I'm thrilled with the idea of "memberships" for leagues and tournaments. So - if I don't pay a membership fee, I can't play in a tournament? Or are they going to make it membership-only to play free games, to try to keep from having to do tax stickers and stuff?

I am curious how this will all end up. I like the list of pinballs and the place is not far from where I live. I honestly do not think those pinballs will earn much money though. So I assume the bulk of the operating costs will have to come from the newer video games or whatever other things they have going on there. I can not see them avoiding tax stickers unless they are going to be one of those flat fee to enter type arcades where everything is on free play. From the description it does not sound like that will be the case.

I will be there to play some pinball for sure. I just hope they keep it to 50 cents a play or less for pins and 25 cents for the vids.
