Pinball Wizard Arcade in Pelham NH closing and needs to sell inventory.

I've only been there twice, but this really pisses me off. Frikin' strip mall owners jacking up the rent!

Sarah St.John is a really cool gal, and she had an amazing haven of pinball and arcade goodness.

Grrrrrrrrr......

A lot of the RI crew was up there last weekend seeing the place off. It's sad to see it go, and Sarah has run a great space for the past few years that won't be easily replaced.

I wouldn't call some of the working or project game prices a fire sale, though. If you're looking to pick anything up be prepared to bring some serious bank.

I have never been there but several friends have indicated she is pretty tight on prices, don't go expecting any deals I was told more than once.

Sucks to hear... I stopped in there for a while on the way to Funspot, and it seemed like a really great place. I was hoping to drop in again on my next Funspot trip.

Was a great place to visit. Just about everything was 'up' and a nice selection.

Sarah is a great person....super nice and extremely knowledgeable.

Pinball Wizard had an authentic feel, vibe and it absolutely sucks to be closed down.

As far as her inventory - Sarah is notorious for having high prices. I can't speak for what she is asking for her games right now, but in the past she was asking top dollar for anything she was willing to let go.

I hope people get deals though and games go to good homes. Would be nice to see some stuff transferred to Funspot.

The $1200 Black Tiger conversion up for grabs in this lot is indicative of the prices things are going for right now. :)

It's indicative of sky high asking prices because everyone suddenly decided they wanted to get rich off these things. Certain rare and desirable games will actually sell for high, as always. Most of the rest will come back to earth at some point as soon as everyone realizes this is today's tulip bulb craze.

$500 will get you a Black Tiger conversion right here:

In fact, probably less, as this cab has been listed and re-listed for at least three years now.

Well, why wouldn't they if they are looking at CoinOp Warehouse's Facebook page. They see silly Europeans (sorry, no disrespect intended) throwing silly (once again, apologies and much respect to your rich and ancient civilizations) $$$money$$$ at Lloyd for as-is non-working project games - based off of a single picture.

Obviously, they are made of gold.... ;)

Being from the UK, I can comment on this. The issue we have over here is the lack of numbers of cabs to buy. Missile Commands, Robotrons, Pac-Mans - the classics basically, simply don't turn up, and when they do, they go for well over £1,000 for the most part. To give you an idea, an Irish Asteroids Deluxe upright in tatty shape and non-working condition sold on ebay UK over the weekend for £720 (which at current exchange rates is $931).

This is the market we are in over here. And to your point, you are correct, I can't imagine a non-working Asteroids Deluxe going for $931 over in the USA.

There is a regular container that comes over here from CoinOpWarehouse every couple of months or so - it gives collectors an opportunity to acquire a classic cab at a reasonable cost - to us anyway.

It's market forces, pure and simple. Supply/demand has driven prices up over here. Add to that the lack of good titles to buy - hence people are importing from the US, and are prepared to pay what you guys see as premium prices. To us, the prices are resonable to acquire the titles we want.

As for buying from a single picture - part of the thrill is buying a project that needs work. All part of the hobby, and there's an acceptance that most cabs bought from the US will need work of some sort.

I've yet to get in on the US import action, but I can see the appeal.

Exactly. Only seems silly from sitting in this chair.
Hey, if we (Americans) wanted them that badly, we would be fork over the money. It's just entertaining to watch the feeding frenzy on Facebook, then drive down the street and pick up a $100 Millipede from Craigslist :)
