Have a private seller that sent me this email from a classified ad I posted at work:

"I have a Williams Red and Ted Roadshow that we don't use anymore the kids are gone. Great condition. Owners manual. Interested?"

Obviously, I am interested, but I am wondering what the price police think is a fair offer for this pin since DMD pins can vary so much in price. Thanks for any help you can offer!

Try not to beat up the seller to much man.. $1500 is a steal for a RS these days, as long as its complete and working.. As you might annoy or scare him off.. Show up with $1500 in your pocket, offer $1200-1300.. That should work.. Do not offer anything via email.. Just go see it and talk cash.. I've lost deals by going back and forth with pricing and condition.. Especially if its somewhat local.

Make sure the heads work and all the parts are there.. Check the CPU pcb for acid damage!!

Yep, what he said.

I say in good faith so no one under-cuts you, you should e-mail and say you'll pay his full price if it's in working order like he states.

I don't think anyone would undercut me on this one. It is through my work classifieds, and while it is a large company, I placed a "Wanted" ad and he responded to me. Now, with that said, it is still someone that I "work with" so I won't try to screw them over either.

Now I just have to work on the wife, and see if I can get her to release some funds. I have a feeling I will probably need to sell a few machines first, but he doesn't sound like he is in a hurry to sell his machine either.

Time is still not on your side in a deal like this. Selling it is on his mind and all he needs to do is put the name of the game in google and he's going to find selling prices well beyond what you're offering.

Good luck, but I consider these "same day" type deals.

ANyting under $2k for that pin in decent shape would be a very good deal. Don't be cheap. He might post it on CL and it will sell in 10 min for more than $2k..

A few things to consider:
1: the pin is a very heavy widebody.
2: the pin is pretty complicated with lots of moving parts. So check to see if they are working.

Thanks for all the advice guys. I'm new to pins (at least newer ones), and $1500 still seems like alot to spend on a game (I'm a cheap-ass). I'm still going to try to work this out for tomorrow evening, and see if we can work out a deal. I'll be curious to see what condition this one is in, but judging by the sound of it, it might be a gem...

That's a great price. If you have no competition, I see no problem with talking him down on price, as long as he's happy with the sale price that's all that counts.

I've bought machines before for right at market value then found out it needed much more work or repairs than I thought it would, and ended up going in the negative really fast. A better deal would have helped me, but a lot of the times the seller has 100 emails from people who responded to his craigslist ad telling him they'll either buy it or that it's worth more than his advertised price, it's buy it at his price or not at all. Most of the time just finding a certain title can be next to impossible, so if I want it bad enough I'll buy it anyways.

Good luck! For some reason I never see this title in Florida.
