Anyone know who runs Pinball Pal? I placed an order on 6/9 ... I didn't hear anything from them so last week I emailed... nothing... so yesterday I called... still nothing.

Small order... $17 and change... but give me a break. I just filed a Papal dispute.

The man who runs Pinball Pal suffered a major stroke a few months ago.
His name is Mark Clayton, I believe.

Since it was basically a one man operation, Pinball Pal is effectively closed until Mark can get back on his feet.

Since it was a serious stroke, I would recommend that you simply consider the site closed until further notice.

Sure would be nice if a notice was posted.... now I get to go through the whole process of disputing the charge, etc. Nice. Sorry to hear about the stroke though.

What do they do?? I have a couple of ball drop protectors on my TSPP, as well as the flipper button protectors.

Should be fine on that TSPP as drop protection. Better to just use real mylar, honestly.

Don't use them on inserts EVER...especially WPC'95 games. I put it on an area of my No Good Gofers, as it's advertised as "won't harm your playfield"...it started to bubble after a few years - and when I started to pull it off, it took off insert art with it!!!!!

As for flipper button protectors...just NEVER REMOVE IT...a guy on RGP reported that it also lifted art off of Williams & Stern games.

Mark is a one man show. He is still in therapy and has a long way to go to relearn walking, talking, and using his hands. There is no one else to take care of his site and right now he cannot use a computer due to the effects of the stroke. It was a very severe stroke.

Well... I was going to use his product to prevent continued wear on my GNR due to the Axl Hole kickout....

Any suggestions? I'd like to stop the damage where it is.

Mark's products are the best. His stuff didn't ruin any playfields. If your playfield was compromised to start with, it makes NO difference what you put on it, you'll have problem. It's that simple. I use his removable mylar religiously and the stuff is amazing. The problem is, I'm out of it, and there's no way to re-order. Mark's stroke nearly killed him, and his recovery may take years.

Lets wish the man and his family well. His stencils were amazing and it is a loss to the hobby! I have ordered several items from him over the years. This is not the place to make negative comments considering his situation.

Didn't want to take the chance of mylar yellowing, and if this stuff did, it *should* have been removable. sigh

I'm confused, though, shouldn't NGG have been clear coated?

I agree

His site should be off line though if no one is going to ship. He has to have someone that can do this are have someone call his host stop paying his bill someway to make us aware that he is closed.

Any reason your not using Cliffy's protectors?

Not talking about the hole... I have a Cliffy on the hole... talking about the damage to the playfield caused by the holes kick back... it takes the paint off the center part of the playfield.

(to the leftish around Slash's leg - and yeah, it's a pre-shop photo before I added the Cliffy)

Unfortunately calling his phone number doesn't indicate any issue either. One would think a "friend" of his could post the situation on his phone message or something. No big deal... filed Paypal claim ...

... now I am looking for an alternative. I hate mylar frankly.

Yeah, but a lot of WPC'95 games had issues w/ the paint and clear adhering to the inserts....that's why you often see a clearcoat crack around the edges of inserts on those games. So basically...my inserts weren't "stable"...and the stealth mylar just lifted them off like decals!

Dont' worry about regular mylar yellowing...unless you're a smoker or you pee on your games. :)

Even if mylar yellowed...freezing off small squares of mylar is EASY.
