So I just got done playing a ton of pinball machines many of which I had never played before. A bar here in Omaha has a ton of pinball machines. If you are ever in the area I recommend you stopping by Big Johns Billiards.

It has the below pins as of right now.

Bride of Pinbot
Adams Family
Terminator 2
Attack from Mars
Fish Tales
Medieval Madness
World Cup Soccer
Twilight Zone
Rolling Stones

There were a few others but I am trying to recall all of this the day after and I'm not going to lie I had a few beers while I was up there :) Beer and pinball is always a good combo in my book!

I was really surprised that the games I had the most fun playing were Fish Tales and World Cup soccer. Both had so much going on in them and I had a blast playing them. I also was blown away by Medieval Madness. I will probably never be able to justify buying one since it is pretty high up there in price but would love to have one!

My new goal is to get my hands on a fish tales some time in the future cause that game is awesome!

Nice lineup. Looks like a guy could have a good time there.

One of our clients has a power plant in Council Bluffs. Next time I get up that way I will have to check this place out.

Nice place to go try these machines out, they usually have a lot of maintenance issues which can damper the fun. But I still go. Also you should try Benne's pizza and pasta! They have alot and they are maintained very well.

So what did you think of Rolling Stones?

I didn't even play rolling stones. I was having to much fun playing everything else and by the time I was ready to play it I got dragged into several games of darts. Benne is nice and within walking distance of my apartment but for the most part all he has is stern games and I am not a fan of any of the ones that he has.

I do love his jurassic park and star wars. I also love love love the mario one. Not a super great pinball but I am a nintendo fanboy so i love the art work and sounds, and overall look of the game.

They had a Bride of Pinbot and I played it. The flippers were weak, and the machine was tore up. I did see something that blew me away though. If anyone has played mine I am sure they have noticed how the ball drains down the middle often when you launch the ball. The one in Omaha had a ball gate after it comes from the bumpers. I researched and the one on mine is missing. That is going to make a huge difference when I put one in.

the ball gate for the Bride of Pinbot is a one way gate with a twist. The blocking part of the gate only takes up the left side of the gate. During play it allows the ball to be shot up into the bumpers no prob, but when coming out of the bumpers it will only allow the ball to pass along the right side of the lane so it will hit the right flipper. If it is heading down the lane on the left side or the middle the gate will stop it and make it come down the right side. I have seen a gate like that on a spiderman game and thought it was pretty cool.

My thoughts on the Rolling stone game. The lower playfield is bare and very generic. Some targets on both sides are the only features. I do like an open playfield, but this is just boring as hell. The Mick Jagger in the middle goes from side to side and switches direction randomly. He moves pretty quick and hits register very well, but the speed and randomness make it hard to aim for him at all. It is more annoying than fun. Games that have randomizers can completely make a game more exciting. The magnets on the Addams Family and the spinning discs on Whirlwind make it hard for folks who are making well aimed shots, but keep you on your toes. Mick simply cock blocks your shots and does not send the ball in a random direction. All the action happens in the top third of the playfield and the shots are pretty easy. It simply is not complex though. There are ramps on both sides, a target that captures, and another target. There are no real toys, or shots that do something. Bride of pinbot has a great toy, the head that rotates, pinbot has the visor that opens, Addams family has Thing, and Funhouse has a mannequin head that moves its eyeballs, and the mouth eats the ball. Rolling Stones has a flat piece of plastic with Mick that just annoys you.

Being the newest pin on the market I had high hopes, so I was let down. It seems they really skimped on this game. Maybe it was to keep costs low for them and operators, but I really think they knew they could sell a lot to Stones fans and it would be fairly popular from that. I do not see how they could strip anything from the design to make a lower priced home version, but I am betting they will have a limited edition run for the uber fans and make a healthy profit off it.

Yeah..... I just went to Bene's pizza for my birthday with my family a couple of weeks ago. I was surprised by the nice lineup of pins that they had there. They were fairly well maintained except the Indiana Jones has/had an annoying spot on the upper left playfield that had a rubber that needed replacing. Balls would always get stuck there. It happened to my daughter when I was shooting a video on my cellphone:

Anyways, thanks for the tip about Big John's Billiards. I'm going to have to go there and check those out!

I think I'm catching to pinball bug too. I'm thinking I'm going to pick up a Williams 'Space Station' when opportunity and money allows.

yeah, i saw the creighton/nebraska game this week. fantastic stadium.

.....but it's not rosenblatt. as a lifelong college baseball fan, it's gonna take some time to get used to that. rosenblatt WAS the CWS, ya know? i'm just glad i got to see a game there before they moved to the new stadium.
