Hi all, just got into pinballs recently and have a few technical questions for you guys. First off I will tell a little how I got into this hobby *cough*addiction*cough*. I grew interested in vids many years ago but could never afford multiple machines. I decided to build a homemade Mame machine from some free plywood, in the end I had a crude but working Mame arcade cabinet. Since then my interest for all things arcade related grew. Fast forward to this year and I picked up a few machines off of CL. Started with a Gauntlet Legends in almost brand new condition, next came a DE The Simpsons pinball machine. I probably over paid a bit on The Simpsons because I didn't (still don't) know a lot about pinballs. Time went by and only a week short weeks later I came across a awesome deal on a DE Jurassic Park pinball. I like The Simpsons but the ball swallowing out lanes gets pretty annoying so I'm going to focus on fixing up the JP.

First off I didn't expect a fully working pristine condition Jp with the deal I got but I am still happy with it. Some things do need to be taken care of on it though. Most of the playfield lights are not working except the flashers. The top half of the backbox lights are also not working as well as the topper lights. I opened it up and found CN8 is burned looking, so I'm assuming I'll need to fix this. I jiggled it and had lights come on but then they turned off shortly after. I have searched and found some mentions of molex connector replacements but never saw a part number or where to get them. I just bought a nice multimeter today for starters. I also saw that ill need to replace the fuse holders since they are about to break. So any help finding the needed parts and tools would be much appreciated.

I have already ordered rubber replacement kit, Cliffy protectors and coin mechs for the JP so far. I would like to get some replacement plastics and apron cards if any one has some info on where to get those.

Thanks for any help

Come over to Pinside.com. We can help you there. It's a community of nothing but pinball owners - trust me - you'll be glad you did :).

I think he just means their is a higher concentration of help, I don't think he was implying anyone was dumb.

As far as a supplier goes, I use jameco or mouser, not sure on actual parts for data east as apposed to Williams but I could tell you all of them, but need to get out to the shop first

Ed at Great Plains Electronics will have the molex connectors and fuse clips you need.

(And for the record, my comment was made to state that there are several members here who post repair advice on other sites including pinside and RGP.)

I got fuse clips from Mouser: 504-BK/1A1907-03-R TRON FUSE CLIP $0.40 each. I had to replace a bunch on the Solid State Flipper PCB, but none anywhere else.

I also had 1/2 of the GI lamps go out, and replaced connector CN8, but I had a 10-pin connector lying around and used it.

I'd also like to get some replacement plastics.

Sean

that's the way i took it as well. no worries.

this is a GREAT pinball website. frankly, even though there is at least as much info on pinside/RGP, i enjoy this site more. yes, there are a lot of members that post in both places, and hell there may even be more "pinball traffic" overall, but i like the member makeup of this site and the friendly atmosphere.

just my two dirty nickels (seriously....aren't we past pennies by now? ;) ).

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll put those fuse clip part #'s down on the shopping list. So I can go to radio shack and get the header and molex connector? Any idea on part numbers for those?

My Radio shack doesn't carry these parts so I'm going to order from mouser. I found a Data East repair guide that is extremely detailed and helpful. It has all of the part numbers I was looking for, Thanks for the help guys.

I'd just leave most of the lights in the backbox out. You don't need them all, and its just more strain on the GI.
