I have a Bally Star Trek 1979 pin where when I picked it up the legs were off and it was in storage. The legs that the seller gave me with the machine were all the same length. There are bolts in the feet for height adjustment but even with the front all the way in and the rear as far out as I am comfortable I still have to use some bits of wood to hit a 7 degree slope.

Did I end up with four front legs or something? Or maybe the leveling bolts have been replaced and are to short?

All four legs should be measured 28.5" long without the leg levelers. Here is an example:

That vintage of pinball machine uses the 3" long leg levelers. Perhaps someone gave you legs with only 2" long levelers installed?

I'm at work so can't measure now but that would make a lot of since and sounds about the right length for the leveling bolts.

I didn't really think about there being a difference ...

i maintain that there is... but some people like to do unusual things and its your game so how you set it up is your business.

To get a fair idea of 'standard' .. put 3 inch leg levelers on the back of 28.5inch legs.. wind them out about 1.5-2 inch ( a bit over half way) ... and wind the front ones right in. Measure on the playfield not the glass.
