On Location is a different story. HMO I say Regular Glass if you do not want to spend the Bucks.Given the price, availability and risk involved I can't imagine why anyone would use anything other than tempered glass in a pinball machine. Especially on location. Hello liability.
We have been using ordinary plate glass on the pinball machines on our routes for 35+ years with no problems.
And consider that before 1977 all pinballs were shipped with ordinary plate glass, including back glasses!
Yes we have all discussed this topic to death on this forum and I still stand by statements.

Don't forget to get rid of every picture frame, mirror, drinking glass, light bulb, Exc. in your house. I agree with Ken on this. I have about 20 pinball machines right now and two of them have regular glass and I have had a couple others with regular glass. Never had a glass break, seen a glass break, knew somebody who had a glass break. People use whatever kind of glass you want and use your playfield prop rods too.Well you better remove every glass window and door in your house and schools everyone, or bubble wrap your kids. WOW!!!! I have never had pin glass break yet. I must be lucky 2 kids also. My kids also listen to me if that helps. Wait I have had 2 broken windows and 2 broken fish/reptile tanks. But this might just be me. Thanks.
If Ken Says a OK , I have To Agree with him.
AnyBody Else?
I'll see your Ken Lewis and raise you a Clay Harrell.
Now that's funny.I'll see your Ken Lewis and raise you a Clay Harrell.
Irresponsible? So your telling me that every piece of glass in your house is tempered?I'm VERY strongly against using regular glass. Using it is irresponsible, plain and simple. I find it really hard to believe that there are people who encourage NOT using tempered glass. It just baffles me. There is a lot of risk with broken plate glass... tempered glass might break into a thousand pieces, but it's harmless when it does.

as ken pointed out the glass wasnt always tempered, as i found out!
F it, just don't use glass at all, super safe and no glare.
So explain, what is the advantage of plate glass??
Of course not,but my kid and every other kid in every house in America throws crap around and these things can also get broke and cause an injury. Like I said earlier I've never seen a pinball glass break tempered or plate glass. Now i know it could happen and best to use tempered glass to be perfectly safe, but for some to act like people are stupid to use regular glass is wrong. So you throw heavy metal balls at all of your windows and picture frames?![]()
