So I know there are glare guards (I have them on all my pins) and glare film for dmd's but I'm wondering about how to deal with glare from bright backglass? I play with the room lights dimmed and my new tspp backglass seems to really throw glare onto the back 1/3 of the playfield...I'm thinking of shrouding the bulb in there to dim it but I'm wondering if there is a film or something I can put on the actual glass (back 1/3) to deal with the glare instead?

Shrouding the bulb works wonders. Try it first, it will probably be enough to take care of the situation and it is an easy solution.

I used a slightly yellow paper to shroud mine. It kept the color warm to match the artwork, but it cut down on the glare significantly. You can also buy plastic fluorescent tube filters or sleeves that do the same thing. Pinball Pal sells filters, but as most people know, the owner has been ill and you won't get an order shipped from what I've heard. Do a Google search for "fluorescent tube filter" or "fluorescent tube sleeve" and you'll probably find something that will work.

And before I get comments from the peanut gallery about paper burning up and destroying your game, it won't happen. The tube and backbox doesn't get nearly hot enough for paper to autoignite. I measured the temperature of the tube and backbox with my infrared thermometer and the highest reading I got was 128 F after the game had been on for hours.

Grab your favorite color of spray paint and go to it..the darker you want it the more coats you put on.

Black will just darken it without a tint.

Done this for ever on JukeBoxes that were to bright.
