Just passing this along, this just came out and has iOS recreations of some classic pins. Looks like they nickle-and-dime you with in-app purchases to get all the tables, but there's a free demo.

There are some others out there, all by the same outfit (The Deep, Wild West, AC/DC, Slayer, etc) — this seems to have nothing to do with them, which is good, because I don't like them.

FarSight! Love those guys... They made the Pinball Hall of Fame series. Very high quality work. I especially favor The Williams Collection (despite the occasional glitch). The Gottlieb Collection deserves a physics, graphics, audio and control revamp though. Their most recent Gottlieb Collection on the Wii only gave extra camera angles from Williams Collection (thank the Lord).

Otherwise, nudging the table with Wii motion controls barely works. I wish they had a Classic Controller Pro option as I've mastered PSP, PS2, and PS3 controls on Williams Collection. Thumbstick nudging is ace!

Audio is OK right up until you hear a random cricket chirping over the entirety of arcade sounds. Williams Collection has it beat in clarity and music choice.

For pinball games, graphics can be very important unless you know the game well enough. The clearer it is, the more artwork, lanes, targets, and bonuses you can see and read.

As far as physics on The Gottlieb Collection...very floaty compared to The Williams Collection. Sometimes the pinball feels like a super ball. That includes weird reactions to bumpers and flippers.

Let's hope they follow the trend of The Williams Collection, give Gottlieb a second chance, and move towards a real pinball simulator! This is also coming from a guy with multiple versions of each game. Let it come to the HD consoles please! :)

That's so weird ieure, I have an Asteroids Deluxe Cabaret too! Maybe cabaret guys are naturally into pinball. It's something of a hypothesis, but I know things about stuff, so that backs it up. :D

Now I really wish that Pinball Magic iPad accessory was released:

Would've been a perfect match with the iCade!

Hahaha! Another Asteroids Deluxe cabaret owner with pins here. Timberterror also got an AD cabaret recently as well. You may just be on to something!

I've got one called Pinball HD Collection by Gameprom. It's ok...it's the one with the AC/DC and Slayer machines (neither included with the game, but additional in-game purchases). I'll have to give this one a try.

I just hijacked the wife's iphone 4 and installed the pinball arcade. 4 tables, 9.99

tales of arabian nights, theatre of magic, black hole, and ripley's.
man i hope it's good like the xbox williams collection!

Could be. I definitely get the Homer face for cabaret cabs. Maybe I'll get a pin or two some day.

Yeah, I don't like the engine they use for those games. The balls seem to float on the table more than roll.

I keep reading that the machines can be played in portrait and landscape, but can't figure out how to do it. Anyone figure out out to play in landscape?

i took a quick look and didn't find that portrait/landscape setting on the iphone.
and it does not switch if you rotate the phone.

quickly tried ripley's, and theater. for a tiny screen it is really nice.
i will definitely buy the xbox 360 version in March.

playing all these nicely done simulations makes me realize more and more that i just might have to buy one of the popular DMD pinballs in the future......just maybe.

good write-up. i don't see the app in the android market, at least for verizon, yet?

I have a 3gen 32Gig touch and it will only rotate when the game is not in play. I like mine upside down because the way I hold it, I block the speaker and headphone jack

the droid release is tomorrow so it'll be interesting to see how the droid varies from iphone in playability.

i like the touch screen on the iphone better but like the droid having gorilla glass that is shock resistant.

Damn I just sold my android tablet. I bet it would have looked awesome on my transformer. i still have my iphone so ill give it a shot

A friend of mine wrote this software. He has been involved with so many virtual pinball projects, that everything is just a little better than the last. He did Visual PinMAME originally, Did a lot of the original Ultrapin software, worked on NuCore Pinball 2K, and now these. Top notch programming.

Just snagged this. It still has the same light/floaty ball feeling as other Farsight titles like Williams Pinball Hall Of Fame. I think Zen pinball has a more realistic feel, but no real-world tables.

Its still great and worth the D/L.

the droid rollout today isn't going so well. see the FB announcement at "the pinball arcade"

I installed it on my first gen motorola droid and it about has it crippled.
movements are super slow and chunky, with sound drops.
might wanna wait if you have a droid and thinking about this app.

the xbox 360 williams classics are so far heads above the iphone app.
and the iphone app is heads above the droid.
so hopefully the xbox 360 release will have them back to really top notch play.

although they are real table emulations, i'm still thinking that the pinball HD/ zen stuff on xbox is every bit as enjoyable, and in some ways much more clever and fun.

interesting to see how this plays out....
