We've moved our eBay search tools off of Ace and to Pinata.com.

If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend checking it out.

www.pinata.com

eBay makes it hard to view anything by category any more. Pinata makes it easy.

Arcade, Jukeboxes & Pinball:

And Pinata powers are 'Top 100 Coin-Op eBay auctions' list on the main site here:

Main Site -> Shop/Buy/Sell -> 100 Important Game Auctions on eBay

Pinata.com can help show where the action is in other areas of collectibles:

Video games (consoles):

Coins:

Comic Books:

When you click on one of these curated collectible listings, this can result in an us earning a commission from the eBay Partner Network if you purchase something as a result. It doesn't amount to much. Much more importantly, however, if we can get our volume up a bit, they will restore our access to some extra data that will make it easier to find and highlight the best auctions. eBay recently moved off of legacy APIs to new ones. The new ones are missing data the old ones had, and we've had to petition to get special access to the data. eBay's response is "Let's see higher volume first".

I personally never trust eBay nor eBay sellers to correctly categorize anything properly. I'm guessing Pinata is relying on that low-quality data to power their lists?

For example, the "Arcade, Jukeboxes & Pinball - Today's Top Auction Lots" list is littered with:
  • Table top games
  • Miniatures from Numskull, New Wave Toys, & Replicade
  • Arcade1Up parts
  • Console video game merchandise
  • Only 11 of the 24 auction lots listed before clicking "Show more" are actual coin-op stuff (parts, PCBs, flyers)

The "Top 100 Coin-Op eBay auctions" list is about the same too.

Not every item has to be of interest. I'd rather know about the 11 items even if I'm not interested in the other 13. Heck, if I got one gem a month out of looking at the list I'd continue to do it. I don't only run that site, but I'm a customer too. I've found a lot of things I've appreciated that way.

Now that said... I've been highly restricted on what kind of data that I can pull from eBay at the moment, as well as how much data. Both are real problems. If I can address that then the quality of those pages will continue to improve.
