I am a pin noob and am looking at a gottlieb Spiderman (1980). This will be my first pin!!! I have not checked it out in person but the seller says its working 100%. What is a fair price (assume good working condition)? If anyone has played spidey, is it a good first pin? Hows the replay value?

Mr Pinball Price Guide says $1125, but that assumes pretty good condition. Not sure what the history of eBay auctions have been.

It is a decent playing machine. I'd like to add one to my collection someday if the right one came my way. Good luck!

933$ is the Average price on this machine. That based on auctions.

Condition means everything.

500$ is a good price, times are tough. It all depends if he eger to sell
Good luck

This game bores me to tears. It's pretty darn slow -- an issue made worse by it being a widebody table.

I definitely wouldn't recommend it for your first pin. Now, if you already had some other pins in your collection and had the room for whatever, then the Spidey might be worth picking up. But then, only for the fabulous art on it...and if it were cheap.

i agree with this statement 100%

Thanks for the link, maybe I can pick it up as a parts machine ;)

The link to the ebay prices helps out, thank you.

Is this pin that terrible by itself, or are you comparing it to the best pin you've ever played? Is it slow because its older? Im a noob, so it might entertain me until I refine my taste for good pins.

That is a machine I have wanted every since I got rid of my sys. I charlie's angels. I'd pay $800 for a fully working one with minor cosmetic or play issues max. Every addition issue lowers the price from there. If it were mint or restored it would be worth more, but I'm not in the market for restored pins when that is my favorite part to do!

It may be slower than newer pins, but it is an acquired taste. You learn how to play it and how to activate the playfield multipliers, and it becomes a real fun game. It is a lost art on newer SS and DMD pins.

Exactly! Although I likes my Star Trek Next Gen, I enjoy playing my '67 Williams Apollo just as much.

Me too... and I currently own the game. What I would say for it is that it's a good game to restore and resell. It's a great first game if you're planning to do that with it. Assuming you get it for a good price.

play the darned thing before you shell out any money

who knows, you might detect a problem in which case thats the perfect ve hicle for talking them down
i would love to have one of those too so grab it and use it as leverage to upgrade
