I've been doing a playfield swap on my AFM and decided to try putting in a background decal. I thought it would look good in the game but was a little surprised at some mixed reviews from local pin heads. Seems some think the games should be left original and others like adding decal mods.

I thought it would be interesting to get some opinions on adding decals to your pins.

This is the AFM background decal I put in today.

decals

one of the sites i was on recently had the same building decals for the sides also........you should check out the whole package

Yes. I got this one from Curly at Little Shop of Games. He has both sets. I thought about the side decals but was afraid that might be too much. They are really nice quality vinyl decals.

i would say a sticker would be ok......those buildings on that game look really great.......but i would stay away from mods where you start drilling holes......unless the desired effect is really worth it or is accepted (not frowned upon when selling)

Looks fine mate, wouldn't worry. If the next owner doesn't like it they can remove it. Don't think the will care after seeing how that playfield shines....wow!

I think it looks cool, but its just enough. I wouldn't do the sides.

Yep. Either offer to remove when selling if buyer doesnt want it or leave it for them. F the whiners.

I'm changing up some things on STTNG also that I'm sure someone will whinge about. :)

I have one that Kevin Strasser did years ago that has UFO ships flying and the earth and mars in the background. I sorta forgot it was back there, but I'd recommend adding graphics to any backboard that doesn't have it.

I'm shopping my TAF right now and I have the Stone background that Curly (Little Shop of Games) sells. He also has a stone look to go on the blue base of the bookcase in TAF.

Go for it; Who would want to take it off anyway?

I like it. Will shop my own AFM next and am also considering to add it, together with the side decals;

I'm all for tasteful mods that don't destroy the game. I think the AFM background decal in your post looks like a great way to dress up the back of the playfield. I'd do it.
