Pilot Air: Shipper beware!

Wow, lots of horror stories. I've shipped and received a few times with Pilot Air and never had issues. Most of my stuff goes through NAVL, but I guess I've been lucky with both services. The only damage I've ever had was NAVL busting up a shooter rod and assembly on a pinball machine.

I was put off by the attitude, it was hardly a polite denial, the way she put it sounded like I was asking for the fillings out of her teeth. My request was 190 miles. I asked what the minimum mileage was and if I could be charged that and was told, "I don't know".

Everything in any industry starts and ends with customer service. Many swear by them I was put off in my two experiences. But hey for every bad experience with a company someone is there to defend and vice versa.

Ahh, yes attitude can be a serious problem. I'm more than a little surprised that they declined to give you a minimum - you'd think they'd be willing to do LESS work to get your money, you know?

From everything I've heard here I'm thinking that I should continue my cheapness-based routine of only buying things I can go pick up myself.

A buddy had a Galaxian mini shipped to him years ago, but I don't recall if it shipped through Pilor or NAVL. Either way, we picked-up the game at the terminal and immediately noticed the guts of the game were hanging out the bottom! I couldn't tell if the game had been removed from the pallet and put back on or not. Needless to say it was pretty sad. I recall the forklift driver telling me they needed to keep the pallet so he took the game off the pallet and the weight of the bottom of the cabinet, ISO, etc. were all hanging on the wires!

For anyone concerned, the game was restored. :)
