Problem:
Pile Up game (Smart Industries) would work for a while, and then the top two thirds of the display would display random boxes, and would not follow the usual attract mode operations.
Solution: Contacted Smart Industries, and talked with Tech Support (extension 16). He said I needed to re-flow the connectors on the PCB.
I had to remove 4 of the LED cubes (used a Hakko 808n - they dropped right off) to get to the connectors. I re-flowed the connectors using some fresh solder and a Hakko 888, and re-installed the LED cubes with the same soldering iron.
While I had the display board down, I touched up all the LED cube connections (some looked pretty cold).
Reinstalled game board in unit, powered up, unit works SAT. Performed functional test, SAT.
