Hi All,
A while ago I posted a thread which generated a nice response to which CFL bulb colors to use for the marquees. Hopefully a picture will post with this thread. I took the time to do an experiment using Home Depot Ecosmart CFL's (daylight, bright white, soft glow) 14w-60watt simulated output. These are my actual arcade marquees of Final Fight & Stun Runner with the actual bulbs. In conclusion, the daylight CFL gave a wonderful bold perfect color picture. However, I wonder if it's TOO PERFECT for an authentic look, however the black colors did tend to be muddy and had a slight brown tint. Then the bright whites were put in, and it gave an overall washed out look, semi authentic, and would be my choice if you couldnt decide between the soft glow yellow look or the perfectly flawless daylight colors. Finally the soft glows gave a truly authentic look, with major yellow overtones, however it is a dingy look.
In conclusion, depending on the primary colors of your marquee, this may influence the color output you choose for a bulb (ie: a blue marquee may tend to look overly blue with a daylight cfl)
I hope this helps and the pic shows up.
