So my Ms PacMan just stopped working after moving all the sudden. It use to come on and there was no sound every now and then but after this move now it just shows a black screen. When you first turn it on you will get like a sudden light up screen but then the light collapse into itself and just a black screen.. Any ideas ?

what model of monitor?? if your not sure post a picture of the chassis.

first check all wiring/connectors are hooked up, check all fuses in cabinet, test power supply voltages and if all that is good than you have to test the monitor in another cabinet and game pcb to make sure you know where your problem is. assuming is not good always verify especially since your game pcb had problems with no sound prior to the move and if the game pcb isn't outputting video you won't see anything on the monitor.

Dang, I was hoping it would had been one of those easy fixes where everyone has had it happened and it could be pointed straight too..dang it..lol Ok, no clue how to check voltage is there a good video on utube to help or anywhere else ?

If your getting a bright flash and then nothing it sounds like a cold solder joint or two. There are 2 jumpers on that model that get cold solder joints and can cause this problem. They are J19 and J33. These are located along the backside of the chassis (opposite of the adjustment pots).

While you have the chassis out now is a good time to put fresh caps in.

Is that on the PCB or Monitor ? Never mind sounds like Monitor chassis. Sorry I am a newb still..I added pics at the top post to show PCB and I noticed D7 & D8 are ruff looking. Any ideas what those two run ?

yes Ed was referring to the monitor chassis. D7 and D8 are common to look like that but i wouldn't replace unless they test bad. your edge connector with that crappy way someone tried to fix it should have the edge connector replaced if the pins are getting weak and causing your excess heat on those diodes. adding solder like someone did is the worse thing you can do. you need to figure out whether the monitor or the game pcb are bad otherwise you will chase your tail going back and forth assuming and never truly ruling either out. do you have other games you can test the monitor or game pcb??

Unfortunately that Ms Pacman is the only older arcade I have. Besides Daytona USA Twin cabs and I finally just got one of them up and running yesterday. Here is the Monitor I believe a WG 4900 could be 4700 ?

yes that is a k4900

I am going to do a cap kit while I have the monitor chassis out and figured I would do some future preventative steps as well so just replace the fly-back too. What would be a good idea to also replace while I have it all out as well ?

on a k4900 i wouldn't replace the flyback unless its bad. i would reflow, cap kit, maybe vertical transistors, and filter cap.

BTW: i have everything in stock even the fuse holders and all our kits have the best quality caps in them.

Change out those fuse blocks... that should be the first thing anyone does to a pac / ms pac

Fuse blocks ? Anyone know what the 40 Pin ribbon does exactly. I noticed it's got 39 legs instead off 40 ?

Could t get the camcorder to get a good recording of the Monitor. So I went ahead and took out the Monitor chassis and it doesn't look like the caps were ever replaced. It also has an orange pancake like transistor or what not that I believe goes to the degauser if I said that right. It's all cracked but test good. Fuse 501 was good, the pins on the board were fine for some reason someone put solder on them but when I took it off there was nothing wrong there. So one of the fingers is curling up so I will take some super glue and glue it back down. So far I can't see the proble. Just wondering will caps cause a black screen ? The Monitor has really bad burn-in. I never noticed it before but I guess it was because of the anti glare plastic or tinted black screen that lays over it. Is there any way to fix that as well ?
