Pics of Turbo steering wheel center or shift knob center?

Hey guys,

I'm looking to re-print the steering wheel center Sega decal as well as the shift knob decal. Here's a really bad pic I found online of the wheel center:

Mine look like this (bad, I know, but if you'll know the Sega insignia if you've seen it):

From this flyer, it also looks like the shift knob had some sort of decal. Mine doesn't have that, it just looks like a worn down gold plate. Anyone have a pic of what it was originally?

Thanks for looking!

Derek

I might be able to get you a better one when I get home, although mine is hardly in perfect shape and I'm going to have to take a pic of it in place. The shifter I don't have unfortunately.

Thanks. Even if I get something close, I can use my rudimentary photoshop skills and at least fill in the colors, print it off on a clear label, place on a thin metal disc and glue in place. At least that's the plan...

I haven't forgotten you, it's just that with my cheap-ass camera it doesn't seem to want to work. If I stand too close the details of the sticker get completely washed out by the flash, but if I stand far enough away it's too far to really see any details either. It'll take another crack at it at some point and play with the lighting, if I figure it out I'll let you know.

Don't kill yourself. If all else fails, I know I can get the Sega logo and then superimpose it on a checkered background and go from there. Thanks!

Here is a shot of my project Turbo steering wheel.

Hey Derek,

I got a wooden knob for mine recently. At a glance, I thought the cap was just a bumpy disk. It took a while until I realized the worn bumpy were two crossed racing flags. There appears to be a rectangle with writing in it below the flags. The caps were probably pressed to have this impression and then painted.

I roughly traced around the impressions in this photo. The flag on the right looks more triangular. My guess is that the flags both have a shape close to the one on the left and that the right one is just more worn.

Here is the same pic, but untouched.

In this last picture, I upped the contrast ratio and lowered the brightness in an attempt to make the details show up better.

I know it isn't enough to reproduce something decent, but it at least shows what was supposed to be there (assuming that others can make out the vague dents in the picture).

Cool! There was probable writing like "Sega" underneath. I really expected there to e something like a shift knob pattern on it or something. Unfortunately, I think most of these were too abused to show much of anything. Maybe somebody will dig up a picture someday.

how did you get the cap out of the wood shifter???

thats funny you posted this.. ive been watching since 4 was available.. well 2 went in just a weeks time. and i bought 1 last night cause i wasnt losing out on this.. now there is one left... Im sooooo glad i bought one last night before this post, cause after seeing this, im sure they we be gone now...

I was trying to free an entire knob from a Turbo mini control panel (couldn't get the knob out). From banging the back end of the shifter, the cap popped out and fell to the floor. It is glued in place, so idk of an easy way to remove it. Luckily, the wooden knob is held in place with a security torx bit, so I was able to just unscrew that and transfer the knob. I then pushed the cap back on mine (didn't bother re-gluing it).

I think I could help... I bought one of those NOS shifter knob and I will repro them. All the rest is done as you could see on the pics. Just saying...

Well I do. If you look at the first picture, You will see that I use the center of the bezel witch is lost space in terms of printing fees to get them. They are not metalized but they do a very nice job to get a machine back to life. PM me your address and I'll send 2 for 10$.

I can also help you on the electronic side I you have problems. I recently bought few boards from ebay and fix them. I can help you too to convert them to LCD screen and get away from the shaking effect from their unstable sync signal.

I'll hold out for something that is closer to the original.

I would never swap out my CRT's for a LCD in any of my games. Even though they are Nanao monitors, you can buy cap kits for them and they are great about minimal screen burn.

The cabaret sideart looks pretty nice, I havent decided if I want to restore the Mini that I have in storage (I found an upright later and never got back to the mini), the boardset fully works in it.
